Golden days indeed but the thing that has changed is the money (root of all evil) which has changed our expectations. 4 years ago most of us were happy to roll along (a little aimlessly I feel) now there is genuine hope as we have a better, much better squad of players and there is real ambition about the place. Funny how Olly has finished up at a club like B'pool cos they are the mirror image of us 4 years ago i.e. happy with mediocrity and no REAL expectaions.

The problem with most is impatience Rome wasn't built.....etc

So the club of given us a chance of genuine success and understandably we all want it instantly. It's just that some can see the bigger picture and the others.......well nothing will appease these types. i'm sure you can see my point.

    • Oldhoop - I can see your point, but I don't think the players we have will get us promoted as there is no shape and balance and as it stands, we will finish mid table mediocrity, which you openly admit it was like four years ago.

If we do finish mid table, what's the difference ?

      • Paul - although i have agreed with most you have said - aside from the left back slot and an out and out goalscorer - we have a very good looking side on paper. However as we are all aware, injuries suspensions etc...means we have to rely on our back up players - which are mainly mediocre.

Its the loan thing that does my head in.If we succeed with this team up to jan - will we be making offers for the likes of watson AT and Simpson. If we do then fair enough, but if they go back, we are again left with a rather average team.Loans are a good thing, but if you are trying to build a side - id want to keep the loans if they form an integral part of the team or send them back if the y are sh..it..

Just sen post saying that we are going to sign watson in jan...which is indeed good news.Watson is the first player we have signed for some time that actually makes me feel like we have signed a premiership player playing in the CCC....Wigan take note ...or not

        • Spencer - we have a very good looking side but currently have no left footed winger to play on the left which breaks down play when someone has to cut back to get on the right foot to cross the ball, also Balanta is to inexperienced to play ahead of Buzz or Vine and the problem with hitting the net will still be here in January and the CB pairings seem ad hoc. Just because we have better players which we do, does not mean we have a better team.

Who has set these expectations. It wasn't the fans it was the board and also 1 or 2 of the administrators on this site who hyped it up. I find it disrespectful for you to say 4 years ago fans were happy to roll along aimlessly. Fans saw that era as rebuilding. Then GP got his grubby little hands on it and it started to go downhill dramatically from then. Unfortunately he is still here and that I fear is one of our biggest problems.

You also comment on some fans seeing the bigger picture. I'm not going to repeat what I have already said. But in fact it's you who are not seeing the bigger picture, as you wander blindly from week to week looking to be spoonfed snippets of what is going to happen next, by the ITK's. It's already been proved they get things wrong. So you will be in for a shock when eventually you open your eyes.

Regards to seeing your point. No because like I said in my earlier post. You are missing the point and you still are.

Before anyone tries to correct me. I know GP was there before we got promotion but it was our second season in the championship when he made his move.

            • Paul - no left sided player.....Cue many top premiership sides and England....who cannot produce a left footed left sidedplayer.Anyway - you are toying with me....you clearly have forgotten all about Cook.

I honestly believe that Watson will make a difference and make this side click...but thats just my opinion.I also think that Simpson will score a hat full of goals....But i also think that Connolly should be the first name on the team sheet.

By the way.. i also still believe in the tooth fairy !!

                • Oldhoop - it was the new owners that told us Rome would be built in 4 years....we were happy to be put on the council list like everyone else!!

Cook has been injured since he left QPR for Fulham..

Last 7 days, we've got Simpson and Watson in. Yet, I Still see criticism. We would have been scrapping the barrell 2 years ago for players, yet it won't stop some. I wonder sometimes, if some want us to win, as it seems to give the silent minority great satisfaction when we lose or underperform.

Guarantee, the same record will be played next time we lose.
                    not even worth a reply :very_sad: :very_sad:

                      No disrespect intended.

However I do feel a little patronised as a fan of over 40 years I think I know what's goimg on.

It's just that the whinging, moaning, negativity does my frigging head in and the fact that you don't get or acknowledge my point speaks volumes. Enough said!

Our strikeforce hasn't. Helguson and Agyemang are our Nygaard and Nardellio today.

                            • Simpson is so much better and I quite agree.
Shame you have to include a very good left winger who happened to score a good goal on sat.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!
