This is where fans involvement would be useful. Harry should have sent a few of our lads round their houses to tip the f*ckers out of their pits and dragged the lazy b*stards to the training ground.

Some of these c unts are on 50-60 bags a week and can't get up in the morning. I'm sure a few of us would ensure they got there on time!

PS. Sorry for the language but these f*ckers would make a saint swear!

Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

There is no excuse, none whatsoever, for any professional footballer to be constantly late for training.
I mean, it's not as though it's a real job they have, is it?
What time does training start, 9.00am, 10.00am?
What time does training finish, 11.00am, 12.00 noon?
Nothing about some of our shower surprises me, nothing.

i know its easy to be wise in hind-sight but it was pretty obvious to most of us that this squad needed the hairdryer treatment. it wd have been different if he had taken over reading whose players clearly were never up to it and it just would have smashed their confidence even more. but strangely enough i think our players were complacent until they suddenly realised it was too late. all that talk from hughes about how he was still targetting a top 8 finish when we hadn't won in 13 games or whatever his record was. harry needed to go in there and do a brian clough: "you can chuck your champions league medals in the bin because they aren't worth anything. You aren't trying and maybe you aren't as good as you are cracked up to be." And if they still didn't try, fine them. it cd hardly have worked any worse.
Talk about the hairdryer well that is SAF and Cloughie too well they ran their clubs from top to bottom involved in everything making sure it was all focussed on a winning team. They were respected in every corner of the club and their word was law. Don't think the football managers position at QPR is strong enough to do even 10% of that whoever it is.

Sorry - this is all down to the manager. Harry has admitted he didn't do a lot about discipline....well what the hell do you expect then?

He should have gone immediately for discipline as that is what is required to stay up. 2 weeks wages fine every time they are late. Soon stop.

He has let this happen and now it is useful to divert from his failures.

It either happened incredibly infrequently or he should have dealt with it.

If players can't get out of bed in time, the club could pitch up a large tent at the training ground with sleeping bags and hey pesto no more late for work.
My old man was the star player for HMP Parkhurst during their successful and unbeaten 77/78 season.

Anyone who has the misfortune of managing people for a living knows how disruptive some can be. Lateness is one of the worst traits an individual can posses. HR inherited a mess of a squad with no wins and jack all points, morale was on the floor and he was stuck with a named squad. Ok, he was able to make changes in January but they were never going to be wholesale changes.
So you have to deal with it as best you can, and like someone said above, the way to do that is certainly not to make things worse all the while there's a chance of staying up.
He is entitled to complain because, let's face it, others quieter methods have failed and that is down to the players concerned who have clearly been rinsing the Club all year. The noises coming from Redknapp are total frustration and it's pretty obvious that he has never before encountered such a mess of a squad. Personally (and I'm not really sure if I'm a Harry fan or not yet) I think some of the comments about how badly he's done are unfair/unjustified and the man (like any manager) deserves to be judged on the basis of his own work.
Now is the time for him to put things straight (if he gets board support - which I'm sure he will) and b squad that HE wants and that will do things the way he insists. If the results are poor next season and the complaints (about effort, discipline and attitude) continue I will judge him accordingly but until then, he has my support and as someone who has inherited difficult staff in the past, he also has my sympathy.

I don't really agree Bluehoop. I have managed people for years and still do. Lateness should be dealt with sensibly. People will be late sometimes for a good reason, bu they need to know exactly how seriously a lack of professionalism is viewed and that means make life very hard for people to be late.

It isn't just about lateness - it is about the message you are sending to the staff, or in this case, the players.

People will get away with as much as you let them get away with.

More importantly - ill discipline is like a disease. It will spread if it isn't dealt with decisively and consistently.

top post....agree 100%. Nothing worse than taking over a business with disruptive employees, cant just sack and replace as its not that easy with current employment laws. Have to hope someone takes them off our hands and lets get behind Harry next season.

WHoever it was has been fined more in 1 month than he earnt so what else do you do? If they dont care THAT much then there are serious problems. In the real world that person would have been sacked but for some reason in football players cannot be sacked.

Simple. Think new players on big wages and think original players on small wages.

There you will have the latecomers and the disciplined players. There is a HUGE divide in our dressing room and that is one of the main reasons we are where we are.

I agree with this. I think HR has thought a lot of these things for ages but couldn't say a lot until we got relegated as he had to try and get the best from these players. Note the same at Sunderland as well.

Good post mate. IF the board back him and the team are not in the top 2 all season then there would be a reason to criticise him.

At present he is just stuck with the $hit that he inherited.

The easy thing to do would be for him to just waffle BS and focus on window dressing and excuses.

In fact he is doing the opposite and laying it on the line and deserves credit for that imo.

Totally and utterly agree . I manage a small team and some people can make you tear your hair out , top post mate and hr has my full backing . Will judge him after he's had a summer to put some sort of structure/discipline in place
