No, if they wanted to do that, they would have had a piece on their web site and in the local news papers stating they had knocked back money bags QPR etc, etc.

The fact the Chairman of all people is refuting what Paladini has stated on the BBC and others in the real world means no bid was made and Paladini has lied to the fans to convince them he tried to get a striker.

Just like Pete saying the other day we offered £2.8m for Beckford. If this had really happened, it would have been on news sites, QPR.co.uk, etc, etc.

Now either he made this up, or he was being lied to aswell. Only two options.

      Seems a fair summing up.

I don't believe him after he showed up in court as a liar !!!

I'm fairly sure Scunny are not so financially well off that they wouldn't have a bank manager somewhere wanting an explanation from their chairman as to why they turned down a seven figure offer for a player that would have made a dent in their overdraft.

Shockingly, it is entirely possible that there are more people in football capable of putting their own spin on a story than just our very own GP & Ali!!

Paul, I'm as frustrated as anyone we didn't land him but I find it incredible that you automatically assume it was our club - your club - that lied. I fully accept it looks fishy, and yes our club has previous. But there could be an innocent explanation - maybe the Scunthorpe chairman was asked before our second, proper, bid yesterday, maybe it was made direct to the manager. I don't know, you don't know, no one on here knows so lets just wait to hear the club's explanation before we all start throwing around accusations of lying.

I agree, but Paladini is quoted as saying QPR made an offer (not £1M) and the Chairman is quoted as saying he did not.

The outcome is the same, someone lied.

Paul, I don't like criticising people on here but kindly read my post and some of the other posts - you are sounding off without knowing the facts. Let us wait to see what the club has to say. It should be good...

stainrodisalegend - As I have said in the post above someone has lied. The choices are A)
Paladini or B) Steve Wharton so place your bets.

No, as I and others have tried to explain to you there are countless other explanations as well. Plse just try to be a bit patient before accusing people of lying (which BTW, people have been successfully sued for on chat forums before). You might well be right as I've said above, but so far we don't know.

This is brings into question, not only the so called ITK's whipping up hysteria based on unknown, unconfirmed and unsubstantiated information. But again brings into question the role of the sporting director. Is that the way he does business, asking if someone is for sale and then when told no walking away. What happened to negotiating dealing etc. Is this the reason we have missed out on other players.

If Pete has said that we had supposedly upped the bid. Then where did this info come from. Did Pete make it up or was he lied to.

Pete will accuse everyone who doesn't agree with him of being negative. The fact is people would be a lot more positive if we didn't feel the club was taking us for mugs.

i just think pete gets a bit excited at times, and likes a build up a situation, which 9 times out of 10 backfires on him.when this happens he will use every argument in the book, using spin most of the time,as it appears he does not like to admit when he gets it wrong:shame:

I'm sure Pete's silence is due to the fact he is busy heading a WATRBs panel of inquiry into this latest outrage...

Probably just suffering a hangover from Deadline Day.

Or asking questions about our official "bids" for Hooper.

                                Spin = lie.

I'd have thought anyone who's lived through the last 30 years of successive corrupt governments, would have kopped that fact on by now.

It's a crying shame our club seems to think it's necessary to indulge in spin. What's up with just telling it straight?
