  • Parker's Too Old! Are you having a laugh?

I'm reluctant to start a thread based on a tabloid story which may be complete bullsh*t but I'm amazed that anyone would criticise the signing of Scott Parker, in the highly unlikely event it happens.

There seems to be a belief that youth is the key but for our pathetic squad that is a pipe dream, given the state we are in. Yes, let's try to build up the academy and bring through players who can do the club proud and yes, let's stop signing players whose best days are behind them and who are clearly here just for the money.

However, a player like Scott Parker is not to be confused with the likes of Cesar, Bosingwa and Park. Parker is a younger and more skilful version of Shaun Derry, who has become a QPR legend (at least in my eyes). We need a few more like that who give 100% for the team and who are pretty good at football to boot.

If we try to sign a lot of other 'names' then I will truly despair (Odemwingie springs to mind) but I honestly think Scott Parker would be an excellent signing, both on and off the pitch. I want to be proud of my team again and he could be part of that happening.
First game 20.2.82 - QPR 3 Derby 0. It's been mainly downhill ever since!

I think fans are wary of spending money on older players and actually spending big money full stop.
But I think spending money on Parker and Hooper would be good signings
Also agree with your comment on youngsters we have to have a blend but some just want a team of 21 year olds

Would be a blinding signing - surely nobody would turn their nose up at him?! Ye she is abit older, but he is hardly a prima donna type player is he, you know he will always give 100% for ya. Can't just go out buying youth, need a blend of youth & experience. A far superior version of Derry. Find it hard to imagine he would drop down a league though, even if he has had a relatively poor season.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

He could do just what Derry did for for us , the leader the dressing room will need

In my opinion very little chance getting him as i think he'll have options in the prem but would be a great signing if this did happen. BUT on a short contract which would be a problem i'm sure.

Not much to offer as a prem player anymore imo and been lambasted by the Spud fans all season, would fit as we also signed the likes of Boswinga/Traore etc when they became unwanted by their club and fans....fit right in.

Parker would be a fantastic signing - cannot really compare to the other oldies signed when not wanted elsewhere...bottom line is that Harry knows him very well and knows what he could bring to the club on and off the pitch, better than any fan who would criticise his signing, so would have trust Harry's judgement on this!!

The problem is he is too injury prone.... which we don't want anymore.

Look at the other sides that have done better than us, maybe you should study their business models.

If Scott Parker signs, it will be on £40k week+ Do you all honestly want this?

I would rather buy Livermore or Townsend TBH as they are the future.

As long as he performs on the pitch, and brings a bit of leadership to the club, yes......besides I won't be paying him personally, so don't really care what he earns.

Scott Parker's my favourite football in the Premier League, however he is getting on a bit & we have too many players that age.

We've got Jenas, Faurlin, Derry, Diakite, Barton, Park, already. We don't need that area. I honestly adore Scott Parker but i'm saying no for head over heart reasons
                        Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                        And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

You and me don't know what he'll be on do we?....What we have to get away from is that it is bad to spend money. We have had bad buys, if a player produces
then let the club pay him what they can or want.

Well I think it is a mistake.

Derry and Hill worked because they were both free transfers and on low wages.. there was no harm in that.

Parker we have to buy and pay him a large salary that as a small club is crazy.

You don't see Swansea/Norwich,Southampton or Watford going in for him do you? no because they are sensible and have better visions for building a squad.

Mate, the players came to QPR because we pay fantastic wages... and more fool us. Parker will only be here for a payday and I promise he will be in and out of the side due to injury.
