I'm reluctant to start a thread based on a tabloid story which may be complete bullsh*t but I'm amazed that anyone would criticise the signing of Scott Parker, in the highly unlikely event it happens.
There seems to be a belief that youth is the key but for our pathetic squad that is a pipe dream, given the state we are in. Yes, let's try to build up the academy and bring through players who can do the club proud and yes, let's stop signing players whose best days are behind them and who are clearly here just for the money.
However, a player like Scott Parker is not to be confused with the likes of Cesar, Bosingwa and Park. Parker is a younger and more skilful version of Shaun Derry, who has become a QPR legend (at least in my eyes). We need a few more like that who give 100% for the team and who are pretty good at football to boot.
If we try to sign a lot of other 'names' then I will truly despair (Odemwingie springs to mind) but I honestly think Scott Parker would be an excellent signing, both on and off the pitch. I want to be proud of my team again and he could be part of that happening.
