would we have stayed up? Personally I doubt it, but I suspect we would have got quite close and might have taken it to the last day (when we would have lost at Liverpool).

Ah but..... It wouldn't have helped that after Villa our record was P7 W0 D2 L5 F4 A11.... Two points out of twenty one.

We woulda stayed up I reckon. For me that was the critical turning point that sent us down. We went into that game off the back off 2 wins, totally dominated the 1st half and were winning with a minute or so to go until HT. Then that poxy goal went in (which I blame Cesar for, personally) and took the wind out of our sails.

Winning that would have put us a point behind Villa and having won 3 on the bounce. As it went, we were 7 off, they went off on a great run of form and we dropped like a stone.

Oh well, not guna cry over spilt milk - it's happened now.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

I'm glad we went down. PL has been a nightmare. Happy that we now have time to completely rebuild the squad. A leaf out of the norwich or swansea book is needed from now on imo.

Not IMO, but Villa would be sweating more on next Sunday needing to avoid defeat at the current FA Cup winners !

There are many contributory factors for our relegation, not winning for the 1st 16 games being the main one.

Summed up well Matty, i agree. The fact is they would've been massively deflated into the coming games and us bouyant, in the end the reverse happened. they were lifted and got results after that, and we were destroyed and failed in games we should've taken points from.

              So we'd maybe finish 2nd bottom ?

              I'm still not convinced Del.......

Bear in mind the previous season, we WERE 2up at Villa Park, but still failed to win and were really fortunate not to lose !

The Villa result was what finished us off IMO. I think we would had have stayed up.

I have said it before but those 45 seconds from us hitting the post to them equalising was the pivotal moment that relegated us.......Villa 2-0 were finished but at 1-1 after being totally outplayed they took their chance and the momentum from us.
We may still have gone but we would have got a lot closer and Villa could well have been in our position, really does show what a thin line there is in football. Overall though we have not been good enough end of.
