  • RIP Dad

My Dad passed away recently and I didn't get the chance to thank him for making me a Rangers fan.
My first game was at home to Arsenal in the 70's when he took my cousin who was a gooner and myself along to see the all time greatest team that I have ever seen wear the hooped shirt. I couldn't think of any other team to support once I saw the likes of Bowles, Thomas, Gillard, Parkes, Francis etc all play with their attacking silky passing game.

My Dad's family originally came from Paddington so I think this was his connection to the R's much like mine being raised in Ealing (Northfields) which was all Ranger's then and still is now. I remember getting my first kit and wearing it with such pride even though all around me were people wearing Liverpool, Man Utd & Chelsea. Never wanted to support these sort of teams as they meant nothing to me, no connection what so ever. Even though I'm not from the Bush it still feels like a place I have a very close bond with if you my catch my drift? Most people there are like me, not a glory hunter but a fan who loves this rough around the edges football club. As I have mentioned before I have really not enjoyed the last couple of years but this will never change my feelings towards this club no matter what happens to us now or in the future?

Some of best memories are all based around this club, mad away trips to Nottingham & Leeds (remember them NW) Boro, Liverpool, Oxford and many more all spent with mates who feel exactly the same way I do about this club.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I will always think of my Dad when the hoops play.
I used to have a Gold Card but now only have Bronze!

Nice post w13, best wishes to you and your family.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Sorry to hear your bad news Dazza,

I know you've been going through it for a while

My thoughts are with you, Shazza and the rest of the family.

I'm down at the weekend for the game so if you are up to socialising I'll catch ya for a beer or three.

If you aren't up to it, I'll catch up with ya soon ( Royal Ascot ? )

I won't ring you as I'll defo say the wrong thing, you know the way my mouth opens before my brain engages.

              Thinking of you all.
"Steve, do you think 25k is a good option when there are indications that within four years, new stadiums on average have increased attendances of 60%?
For us that would mean around 29k."

Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.
