oh what a circus oh what a show.....

Some people love to set themselves up for a fall.

"busiest window for ages", "looking good on 3 targets - going to be massive" and "you'll all be pleased"

    And the nett result?

A reserve team player from Wigan on a 4 month LOAN.

Now I've only ever seen Watson play 3 times so can't really judge him but when I have seen him he's been tidy, average and industrious. So not a bad signing but in a position where we have a high head count and none of those could be disposed of (which tells it's own story).

I just cannot for the life of me understand why this already un-balanced squad has been increased in this area. I can only assume one or two are on the way out --- which one or two will be key to some of the peasants being revolting again.

The ringmaster and the circus funders can't be happy either. Openly declared that we needed another striker and have a cool million to play with. So we'll further alienate some of the pampered squad and aren't convinced in what we've got??

I'm perplexed we've not strengthened at all --- loans, loans, loans, no conviction, no interest, no serious intent, loans, loans, loans.....
Perhaps our scouting network didn't have the right players on their books - fair play if that's the case but hopefully Base Soccer will have some soon.

Sorry but glass still only a third full for me.

I will caveat that with the undisputed fact that this time 3 years ago we didn't look like we'd have a glass and just over a year and a half ago the glass was almost totally dry.
    Some comfort there then.

Got to disagree with you there.

We have a quality side that will do well this season. Yes, acknowledge left back and striker are on everyone's minds. It seems they were out there trying to bring them in. It didn't work out.

Problem is expectation levels have been risen to barmy heights by the ITKs on this board that the reality was always going to be a let down.

One person on this board said we could put out two handy teams at the mo. I agree, they'd probably beat each other too every other game.

You could say people are going to get peeved not getting into the games. Well I think the competition is going to be immense and certain players will have to lift their game or they won't get a look in. Who would have thought a fit Buz wouldn't be an automatic starter.

Up front, we have got Simpson/Helguson to start with options such as Balanta, Buz, and even Ephraim to feed off. That's not even including Vine who let's hope gets back to his best and Pell who I haven't really seen.

Left back is more problematic I agree, but I think Borrowdale is not a lost cause. Let's hope someone else can be brought in on, ahem, loan to cover that berth.

I hope Jim, having seen Connolly, is getting to know what the best players we currently have at the club are. If that's so then we will be damn hard to beat and I think if our forwards start clicking, then the good times will roll.

Not saying it's perfect, but it beats having the dross we had just a couple of years ago. Glass is half full for me.

I always said one definite and a possible..

Even said Premiership player close to agreeing terms.

The possible is still possible next week, if you get my drift.

if anyone cannot get excited about the squad we have then I'll give up.

        the squad is not balanced.

        we are lacking up front.

        we need a left back

we have struggled to score and at times never looked like scoring. so we bring in another midfielder. yes we brought in simpson he may turn out to be our saviour.

          Bad offer.

You know there's more than one on here who wouldn't get excited even if we had Barcelona's squad.

What worries me STILL is that we seem to be collecting impressive jigsaw pieces but they don't fit eachother.
Lots of individually good players, but can they be moulded into a team?
As I've said before, the '66 World Cup squad won because they fitted together, as well as having individual talent.

Easy to get excited about the individual players in our squad, but the team, for various reasons, is not gelling, so can't get excited about it yet.
Faurlin is my hero!!! Love him!!! #########

Not an ounce of excitement from me I'm afraid. The real backers of recently acquired clubs out there are putting their money where their mouths are (Inc. Ipswich) whilst we persist with borrowing players deemed not good enough by their respective clubs and sprinkled with the odd lower league foreigner. LBLOCK has it spot on.

Has everyone forgotton that we have got Simpson, Taarabt, Faurlin, Pellicori, Heaton and now Watson in the last 6 weeks?

How many other CCC have got in 6 (quality) players in that time? Not a shabby wage bill either!!!!!

In fact this is such a relevant point (imho) I shall post it on a few other moany threads to remind the "glass half empty" merchants of exactly what has happened recently.

No balance, no shape, no main striker, something is wrong in the dressing room, the managers flexing his muscles, playes players out of position and still does not know his best 11.
