Don't agree at all.
Clint Hill's instinct was to close down the player with the ball to block the shot. He did this because the 2 midfielders in front of him, couldn't be bothered. They also couldn't be bothered to cover for him.
There was another thread about what a good game Ben Haim had Well, he was last man and played Walcot onside because he didn't get out quick enough, nor did Onuoha.
Clint has a good football brain, but players around him offer minimal support and he has too much to do which sometimes results in him looking like he made a bad decision, he can't be everywhere. He actually tries to do the job of 2 or 3 players due to the work ethic of lazy players like Mbia, Jenas, Granero, & Tarbs. He isn't top class, but he is one of our best player.

It also raises another HR question though, why bring in a player with prem pedigree he's had at other clubs, who Mourinho signed for Chelsea, and never play him....???

Clint Hill is not a centre back he is a full back playing out of position in a desperate team that lacks options. Next season he should remain in the squad because he is absolutely made of the right stuff but dont write him on the 1st 11 team sheet for next season, its New Era number 8 i tell thee, bring on the fireworks

Ridiculous.
So in your eyes a good CB's instinct should be to close a player posing minimal threat instead of marking their man in our box who poses massive threat.
You are the exact type of blinkered fan i was talking about earlier. When Hill messes up, try to find fault with others instead of seeing it for what it is.
As for the defensive line.... He's meant to be marshalling itr and calling the line!! The others weren't slow to get out, there was no plan to get out and only Hill charged towards the ball... he was out of position not them.
Wake up ffs.

There's no denying there are top players who can make others look like they aren't there. The Suarez goal could possibly be tagged this way, although, he still made it far too easy.
AS for Walcott doing that against United and them being idiots..... it was nothing to do with Walcott being good, it was all about Clint being clueless. No top defender would charge 10 - 15 yards away from their man in the box to close a player 25 yards from goal with 4 or 5 of his own team around them to deal with any threat. If he doesn't leave Walcott in massive space there is no pass, and no goal.
For you to suggest anything else is just blinkered.

"I have to tell you this, be prepared to be shocked.........there are some very talented players in the prem that can make fellow players look very ordinary.!!!
If Walcott does this against Man U or City, are their defenders clowns"
If you honestly think Walcott did anything special, or anything at all to make the space and "create" the goal then you must view the game differently to anyone else.
I said you missed the point because the goal wasnt due to a skillful player making it happen, it was because a poor defender made a very bad decision., which is what my original post was all about.

A very, very unfair thread. First twenty seconds aside Clint was exceptionally good. MOTM for me. It's a team game. If that total clown Traore hadn't fu@ked up as usual Arsenal wouldn't have had the ball. If the defence had come out as one- Onouha and Haim didn't- Walcott would have been offside. And Green should have done better with the shot..... And Hill lost his man..... Good teams, sadly, can create goals. Where was the pressure on the edge of the box before the fella headed it? Or the other one passed it? It wasn't simply Hill's fault. No sh1t header from Traore or Traore closed down his man no goal.
Hill carried the very poor Onouha for the rest of the game. He made two exceptional clearances in the six yard box. And a cracking tackle late on prevented Walcott from bring one on one with the keeper. Onouha, on the other hand, was caught in possession at least five times and looked like an accident waiting to happen. He's paid £50K pw; Hill apparently £28K. I know who's done better for us in his time at the club.Last edited by Rangers77; 05-05-2013, 10:38 AM.

Well there ya go then...yes his mistake led to the goal, but if you didn't see the rest of his performance you aren't really in a position to call him comical IMO.Top Scorers 2018/2019
