Is what I'm reading on various sites, surely not as we paid £8m for him?

Our owners are not daft enough to put it less than we bought him for, knowing we may only have him a few months. Anyway, given he's looked like a diamond shining from a pile of sh1t, i am sure there will be plenty willing to try their luck and start a bit of a bidding war.
I think he ticks every box for Arsenal and Wenger, but Spurs will no doubt also be after a striker and i wouldn't be surprised at all if others join the hunt and would all be prepared to pay about £15m if needed imo.

I would love him to stay with us as he looks like he is full of goals........but when/if he does go.....I would imagine quite a few clubs will try their luck.

Win win for both parties. We get our money back, and we may even get a loanee or two off the club who ends up buying him.
He's proven himself and can now move onto a bigger club, which he probably wouldn't have been able to do had he gone to Newcastle. At least not this soon. Fair play to the lad, hope he does well.

I don't think it's as low as 8m, it would be something like 12m.
If it's low, then renew the contract to a better release fee. I'm sure Remy wouldn't mind helping out and he'll get sold anyway regardless, give him an extra million from the deal?

I know nothing about football contracts, but my thoughts are that the release clause in the circumstances of his signing makes sense if it was lower and not higher than what we paid.
My reasoning is as follows, if it was higher then he may not have come to us. We must have offered his club the highest price, selling club happy. Remy must then think I don't want to go to QPR, I want a good club. The carrot was high salary plus the release clause lower than what we offered, this safeguards Remy if he has a poor season and we go down, he is more likely to be able to get out in such circumstances.
If he however plays well and we still go down through no fault of him as is the instant case he is not penalised for having to wait for a club that now offers more than what a desperate QPR offered in signing him.
I don't know but I could see the club gambling thinking Remy will keep us up, everyone will be happy release clause not come into play, he'll stay with us for a couple of years and then sell to a big club. Sadly not the case and as said why should Remy now be penalised by a contractual term for coming to us.
