  • Sensible Protest

Supported R's since I saw my first game in November 1968 WHU 4 QPR 3

I was 6 years old and taken along with my much older WHU Bro to support the Hammers like the rest of my family do.

From that day followed the R's. What memories good and bad! To many to mention but here are a few.

The old 2nd Division 72/73 battling with Burnley and Villa for the top flight
Missing out on the old Div 1 Championship 75/76.
    Football Specials
    Milk Cup Final v Oxford
Drinking on the terraces in the Loft
Fighting on the pitch away to Ipswich Milk Cup Qtr Final 1985
FA Cup run 1982 - all games!
Promotion 82/83 some good battles on and off the pitch
Evening Standard classified paper results on a Saturday
    Ian Holloway
    Daphne
    Promotion at Sheffield Wednesday
    Cardiff Play off Final

Many more I know I've missed etc...................

We all know what a complete under achievement this season has been and the apparent lack of commitment has been indefensible.

Never been a big fan of booing and banners (look at the banner at Reading - shocking).

Now to my point/protest. LIVERPOOL AWAY

I propose from the moment the team enter the field and run towards the goal that the Rangers fans are behind, we all turn our backs and stand in silence. We should continue this until kick off.

Then roar the R's on like never before for 90 minutes! You R'sss!!!!!!!!!

Got to be the daftest thing I've heard in a while on here

The word sensible and football fans don't really go together too well on matchdays as it is ... Your idea just goes to prove that

I don't think there's any point in a protest IMO.

          I agree.
we went down because we didn't play well.

Each year 3 teams go down. are all three sets of fans due to protest because of this? it's simple formation of leagues. just because we went down doesn't mean it's the end of the Rs. Tony's made that clear. i understand people at pompey/rangers etc protesting - but we've got relegated. not the end of the world.

been well documented the players we bought weren't up for the challenge. we won't make that mistake again.

          move on

Tony has already held up his hands said he's sorry and admitted to his mistakes. What more do we expect from him?

I'll admit when I said that, the first thing that popped into my head was the ritual sacrifice of Mark Hughes. Possibly saving it for pre-season tour though?

                theres no point

thers no point in a protest we have not really played well as a team in the prem we were lucky not to go down last season and this season we did go down

i reckon in one year in the lower division we could well be back up again next year

i hope we can keep arry boy i really think he can re build our team

i would love to see cisse and remy leading the line next season both these players are capable of hitting 25 goals in the lower div in fact we could easily score one hundred goals next season so we have another fab season with loads of singing and loads of happy times

What's the point for the protest when TF already admitted mistakes and he will amend it with transfter policy. As for the players, the mercenaries who have casaed the mess (and hopefully will leave) won't give a $hit!

Actually, whilst Fernandes has held his hands up and shouldered some blame, none of the players has said, I tell you what, we've been really poor and we are so sorry for the fans that pay a fortune to follow us around the Country. Yeah, maybe a few platitudes will make them feel better but if they see something in the flesh (maybe not the protest method suggested but something) it might just drive home to them that us daft beggars that travel to Stoke, Wigan, Sunderland and all the other less glamorous, far flung parts of the UK are not just content to stand there and applaud them for what has been, well frankly, absolute turd for two whole seasons.
Clearly the op goes to away games and I just think it's a bit harsh for those that don't to suggest he's not entitled to suggest a method of peaceful protest. This has nothing to do with those that go to games being better fans before someone pipes up on that old chestnut by the way, it's all about those that pay their money can take their choices.
I will be at Anfield as always but unlike pretty much every away game for the last 2 seasons I will not be going there with any hope to cling onto (the feeling will be so very different to City away last season) because this hopeless bunch of care free professionals have tossed away that hope - so I won't be applauding and supporting them in the same manner as usual but will be watching and supporting my team with both eyes firmly on the future. Hopefully Harry will send out a team with similar eyes but I aint holding my breath.

I've heard Shaun Derry say that this week on talksport actually. I'm sure a few of the other players would say the same, how do you expect them to say it though? Tony is very active in the media and on Twitter whereas most of our players who would care aren't.

Unbelievable - whats the point in protesting. We should all be getting behind the players that will be here next season, the manager and the board, end of.

My guess is the ones who have/would say it are limited to Derry, Hill, Mackie and very few others. I'm not talking about players standing there like naughty shoolboys and being made to say sorry but I would expect them to do it through their actions - playing to the best of their ability, showing some desire and passion and actually giving a damn on the pitch. Oh and not having a good laugh about it like Bosingwa did for example.

With our Tony at the helm I'm sure he is gonna bring the glory days back to our club. Forget the protest.
