I love the way people on here make statements such as "he can't hack it in the Chamionship".... Based on what exactly, one troubled start in life in the premier league....???

People also forget the fact he's not only played among the luxury of Real Madrid's first team in his career before Rangers. He cut his teeth at Madrid, like all talented young players do, in their C and B teams first.... that play in the Spanish lower leagues where they have cart horses and big lumps too you know. He then went on loan to Getafe who later signed him, where he was in a slog, before Madrid re-signed him.

I''ve seen enough of him getting stuck in to know he's not the sort of player top shirk a challenge or physical battle so think he'd have no problem in the championship.

Very good post. I've never really bought into this whole myth that as soon as you drop into the 2nd tier, anybody with abit of flair that isn't a Shaun Derry type tackler is "not cut out for it". Yes, the "football" as such isn't quite as flowing in the Championship, but the way some people speak is as though you're going to some Sunday pub league where the sole aim is to smash somebody to pieces. Look at Tarbs for example, the bloke has probably made 10 tackles in his entire career yet but tore that league apart. I, personally, think you need a blend of flair players / play makers and the nitty gritty - people like Granero & Tarbs in a side with Derry & Barton (to use current players purely as examples) is what you need to get out of that division.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Good player and great news if he's one of the committed and actually wants to play for us rather than one who wants to stay because hes on a fat wedge every week that he cant get somewhere else.
