From perusing the threads about next season... seems like a lot of our fans really haven't learned anything from our transfer dealings - talking up names like Jordan Rhodes, Matty Phillips, Charlie Austin, as well as more Prem players on the downward spiral like Crouchy, Scott Parker etc Throwing our money at players who have the profile to play in the Prem is obviously the wrong tact isn't it? That's exactly what we've done. We have to build a team, create players who'll become Premier League footballers. find great, hungry underrated players who are going to start again, forget about the last two years.
I know it would cost us a lot but I honestly think we should try to settle with as many of our current crop as poss. Follow Cardiff's lead a couple seasons ago where they just got rid and started from scratch. You won't get promoted straight away doing that, but you might just build something, an infrastructure that'll keep you up. Again... what do I know but I don't think we can just paper over the cracks with more high profile signings.
Like most of you I've been concentrating on the Prem so I'm not too hot on who those lower leagye players are... but we want good pros, mixed with some youngsters who aren't getting game time at Prem teams (another Andros would be handy).
Would love a keeper like Stockdale, a right back like Kieran Trippier, a Championship enforcer and leader like Wes Morgan and then throw in some good league 1 players like Alan Judge (who saw out his contract at Notts County), Luke Murphy (captain of Crewe at 23), and Harry Maguire (Eng U21 at Shef Utd). The signings I'll be most excited by are the British/European ones I haven't or have barely heard of (not like Yun Suk-Young) cos it'll show our board have learned from their mistakes and are trying to build something the right way. Short-termism is the enemy here
