as for thomson, well by involving rodney marsh when gerry was doing miracles, basically killed us...thereafter we slid deeper into the mire...
wright buried us with debts and the ABC MONIES, £8m of which allegedly went striaght to his accounts.
jim gregory may have been a "rogue" but he left qpr a legacy, a decent stadium at the time..a progressive team and el tel....

Agreed, but that's EXACTLY what Gianni allowed when Olly was in charge. Gianni set a budget in August and by mid-September it was all spent. They, at the end of September, when Olly did that thing he does: 'we need more / better' Gianni allowed him, blowing the budget and increasing the debt EVERY single bloody season.
It wasn't just a small increase either running into £millions. Then, we had no, **ahem**, 'investors' (s******) to cover the shortfalls; apparently we do now (although I remain sceptical).
If we take the approach of balancing the books, we will find our level - yo-yo between Championship and Leagu One - just look at our crowds to confirm that; even a 'full' LR will only get 17k through the door as an average.
Personally, I wouldn't be too distraught with that, but, as has always been the case since the Thompson era, most of our fans have visions of grandeur and think our 'natural' place in is the top flight - it a'int.
The whole point of having **investors** is to help the club push on despite shortfalls in revenue. I'm sure Fulham, Reading, Wigan and Pompey never balanced the books in their quest for the big time...

Be lucky mate, I do have a life thank you, doesnt involve playing as many arcade games as yours, obviously, but still a life.Last edited by Fawny; 03-09-2009, 06:50 PM.
