I'd play Simpson & Balanta upfront with Watson & Faurlin in the middle.

what would have happened if we would have bid say £2.5M & £3.5M respectively, would they still be at their clubs, the answer is more then likely NO

Hull did't want to sell Turner their centre half (who the got from Brentford for £350,000 2 years ago) but they had an offer of a reported £12M which they just couldn't turn down

so the answer is, if a club REALLY wants a player, it will go out & get them.

by they way, just goes to show what our scouting system is like, Turner was only 4 miles down the road & we couldn't see that!!!!!

football people should be buying our players & not an ex Agent

Didn't know he bid last summer. If so, credit to him.
Think the Scunthorpe deal was a perfect opportunity to part-exchange some of our dead wood out of the club. we have several players who are lower table championship players. wd have thought Mahon and even Heider might have been v attractive propositions to Scunthorpe, particularly with say Hogan on loan as an added offering. I don't want to criticise Gianni on this because maybe he made all these kind of offers but I just can't help thinking this was an opportunity lost.

that's because it is, you identify the player you want (must be top quality tho) and then bid them out of the water & don't take no for an answer

Has anyone worked out how much we're spending vs. income?

Im surprised Gianni and Magilton have convinced the board to invest so much

Scott free transfer, loan and massive wages isn't the sensible route.
Watson is a great signing but we have waisted so much money.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Fair point Scott, can't disagree with you there. But my complaint is not the totals being spent (v healthy) but on what. Even leaving the Fraulin transfer to one side we cd prob sacrifice one of our four centre backs, we cd sell Hogan and maybe even one of Rowlands or Legs and of course (if anyone wd want them) Helguson and Agyman. I'm not saying I wd want to lose all these players (some yes, some no) but its about priorities. Who would make a greater contribution to a promotion push - Fitz Hall or Hooper?

unfortunately looking at the balance sheet won't get us in the premiership & we were led to believe that's where the board want to be, isn't it!

I expect Gianni was given a set budget for the season and it would be reckless to exceed it.

                              .

you have to look at the bigger picture. to go up we will have to gamble. sometimes that means losing money. only to gain it again when we get to the premier league.

they cannot break even and go up at the same time. its impossible.

this shows they are not really serious. they went in to make quick money. if we ever got to the premiership i have no doubt that they will be on the take. but i feel they may just cut and run before that time

                                With whose money?

His own? The money the club loaned him? Or someone elses?
