  • New Stadium ? Who will own it ? Are we a Coventry in waiting ?

QPR FC is a bit part player in TF & his backers plans to build an entertainment complex to the west of London, he needs us as cover to build the stadium/arena thats why they want 40,000 plus seats for our 15,000 home fans to rattle around in ..............

'WE' are just a small part of a much much bigger rich persons project !

The question good ol uncle Tony et al should be answering is after they sell LR & move us, will we OWN the stadium or will some third party (ie TF's money men) actually own it ?

I feel a 'Coventry' coming up*
"Steve, do you think 25k is a good option when there are indications that within four years, new stadiums on average have increased attendances of 60%?
For us that would mean around 29k."

As long as it's in the contract that we can't ever be kicked out or something protecting the club.

It would be nice to know the plans before it get's given the go ahead for peace of mind.

Does anyone think that these days any investor, in any club, would build a new stadium and put ownership of the stadium under the football club?

Oh but it IS happening !

If people think Uncle T (& his money men) has put us 100 million ( or whatever the true figure is) in debt just because he wanted to get free lunches in the boardrooms @ OT, SB or Anfield etc they need to get with the program !

PB has announced it will be an 'Entertainment' venue .

These are serious big money people who definitely aren't in it to see themselves wrapped in some QPR tat on MOTD/FLS in close up if we score......

THERE IS a bigger picture ! And the one I'm seeing involves 6000 of us watching QPR v Hartlepool each with 6 empty seats around us. While outside the soulless ground , coaches full of workers are waiting for the final whistle till they can get in to work through the night setting the stage up for the X Factor / Voice / Dancing on Ice ( or whatever ) concert the next day !

I'm just worrying about how QPR will support itself once 'we' are millions more in debt and have lost our only asset, A La Coventry.........
OR Malaga when their sugar daddy lost interest ........
                  OR Portsmouth
OR Glasgow Rangers and the list goes on n on n on n on

Once they have what they want, I fear we'll find out what a very small cog on the wheel QPR really is .....

                  .

I can understand peoples fear, as there are already many failed examples as already pointed out BUT what other way is there for a club the size of us to progress and grow ? I work for an independent company, who were doing very very well and have become a bit of a cult brand but to go to the next level, we needed investment and we are now owned by an international brand, yet carrying on as the independent brand but at a much higher level..............Who knows where it will eventually end up but you have to speculate and have ambition or we will be left languishing in the lower divisions with no hope of progress.
It is football that has changed, not QPR but QPR have to change too, just like Arsenal, City, Chelsea, Southampton, Reading, Swansea, Cardiff etc etc etc have done in recent years. It doesn't happen overnight plans and foundations have to be laid down first.

People should consider that we play the world's most popular sport in the world's greatest city. Our owners are building a state of the art academy and training facility and are planning to build a new stadium that will become an icon in London as part of a large entertainment complex. We all have to accept that we are going to change beyond all recognition.

Ask yourself this. How many disappointed Man City fans did you see at the Etihad last season after they won the title? How many were complaining about their new stadium and the investment in their club? Bet they were gutted they weren't still in league one that day.

Anyone who wants to play in the lower leagues in a stadium that's well past its sell-by should think again.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

i`m worried about all this " speculation and change" ,I would rather be in the Championship at Loftus Rd, then watching Rangers in a shopping /leisure complex surrounded by empty seats
