  • Where I think it started to go wrong

When we signed Park, none of us were dissapointed when he was unveiled.
However, the choice to make him Captain I think triggered the downfall.

It's not common knowledge that there was a divide in the squad with the new signings and existing players, but I think making Park captain probably p***ed off a few.

Poor decision to appoint him captain and one, I believe, purely down to marketing and pressure from TF.

It was Hughes decision to appoint Park captain.
It is the players decision to moan about it and not play up to their level for the team and club.

I don't think the appointment was about marketing and TF. Park have more experience than any other player at the club and he works hard. If everything clicked then his work rate would inspire other players to work harder. I can't really blame Hughes for it. Who else was there? Taarabt? I don't think so. Hill? Maybe but he was playing bad the first few games. Maybe because he wasn't captain.

Besides Park was only captain like 7 games before he got injured. The rest of the 27 games someone else was captain.

In an ideal squad changing the captain should not affect players attitude. They should get on with their job and trust the manager, and do their best.

As for Park as captain, I do not know who I would have chosen but Park would be one of the players in my mind. However he is unproven as a captain at club level. At international level everyone have respect for him and would give their all for their country and captain. At club level it is a different story. He barely knew anyone and his style of leading would perhaps not be optimal for an English club.

It wasnt Hughes's decision imo..it was Fernandes and it was done for marketing purposes. As useless as a Captain as he is as a player.

Nelsen would have been the obvious choice. He had already been captain and was by far the most experienced player. Although he was not supposed to be playing every game, it was apparent from the beginning of the season when we failed to sign a CB that he was in fact going to be used most games.

In hindsight, for me the sacking of Hughes could be a major reason why we are going down. Don't throw tomatoes at me but HR has a worse record than Hughes and NW in terms of points won.

                  We need stability.

HR had a transfer window and MH had 2. Can't really blame it on that. A managers job is to manage the players he have and build from that. Some people here are suggesting we sell most of our players which is ridiculous. MH made too many changes in the summer, that is why there wasn't any stability in the beginning of the season.

I beg to differ. He was a backup. He wasn't even in the starting line up for a long time. Not sure when he came in.

I think there is one person that eveybody has forgotton and for me had a massive influence on where it started to go wrong. Yes, MH got the players in but he was heavily advised by someone who come into the club with a massive reputation and done nothing but line a certain agents pocket and probably his own. Although the board have made mistakes and i feel the players have to stand up and be counted as at the end of the day most performances have been embarrassing and in some instances if you had performed like they did in your job you would of been sacked, but for me RIGG started this off as he was the one that advised who MH could get and at what price.

Who would you have chosen? I don't think Park was the right choice, but it is very easy to say now several months after.

At the time it made sense, and I dont think many disagreed. Who was the alternative? Nelsen (never meant to be a regular). Derry (wouldnt start enough). Hill (at the time, not a regular). Tarbs (dont make me laugh). Cisse (lol)

Park is an international captain, with 100+ caps, Prem and CL medals to his name. He's also a model pro. For whatever reason, things didnt work out but saying Park started the downfall is laughable.

I'm sure we said he was a great captain when he snubbed the handshake from Terry no?

Dont you think that was a problem, apart from Nelsen (who WE NEVER THOUGHT WOULD BE A REGULAR) there wasnt a leader in our team and although park has experiance he is a very quiet player who just goes about his own role.

Nelsen played 21 league games for QPR before he left in February, so he did not miss many games. He missed most of the preseason because of the Olympics.
