I think there is one person that eveybody has forgotton and for me had a massive influence on where it started to go wrong. Yes, MH got the players in but he was heavily advised by someone who come into the club with a massive reputation and done nothing but line a certain agents pocket and probably his own. Although the board have made mistakes and i feel the players have to stand up and be counted as at the end of the day most performances have been embarrassing and in some instances if you had performed like they did in your job you would of been sacked, but for me RIGG started this off as he was the one that advised who MH could get and at what price.

If it was just MHs fault then why is it still utterly dreadful with HR? Players were dreadful again on Saturday once we went a goal down and when Adel and Towny went off they completely gave up. How is that MH's fault?

I totally agree Rigg has a lot to answer for.
Recall a few months ago he gave an interview for London calling, absolute nonsense was spoken like we had a transfer policy in summer which was to get the players we wanted and he then discussed making foreign players feel comfortable. Absolutely pointless stuff and I bet he earns a fortune, never heard such drivel in my life.
Alternately read an interview by the jack chairman, won't pay more than 35 k per week, higher bonus scene than top four teams, proper vision.
You're bang on Rigg is instrumental in our downfall, no one in the club was regulating or saying no. Very similar to Leeds.

I have voted for Hughes, the players,TF and the board plus Redknapp.
Hughes - for signing the players without a real squad plan, his training and motivational methods.
The players - it is them that go on the pitch and do the business (or in this season's case, not doing).
TF and the board - for agreeing to the contracts and not sacking Hughes earlier (8 or 9 games was more than enough given that they seemed to be going backwards with every game)
Redknapp - he has or will have had 25 games to get enough points on the board to stay up. Critiscisng the players and the wagrs publically has not helped team morale. Cisse, for one, could have been managed a lot better and he might have scored more goals. Redknapp's team selection and often playing one striker (if Mackie can be descibed as one) did not help against the likes of Villa and Norwich (home), away at Wigan ,Newcastle, West Ham has proved costlty.
Also, not agreeing to the West Brom demand for Hoilett as part of the Odemwinge deal has probably been one of the worst decisions made this season. What has Hoilett contributed since the deal fell through? Odemwinge would probably have played (and scored the winner against Norwich - his debut?) and is likely to have scored in other games including at Villa, Fulham and Wigan - goals that could have won 9 points instead of the 1 gained. In case anyone says its easier to say with hindsight, many of us said at the time that cash and Holiett on loan for Odemwinge was a good deal and that he would contribute more to the team.Last edited by stanistheman; 23-04-2013, 01:27 PM.

Mark Hughes. He bought the players.Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
And many more mistakes
LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

Albeit I believe Hughes was to blame in the personel he brought in and how he went about creating a "team"... Or lack of 1. Ultimately, though, there's 11 players out there every week that are, on the whole, $hit. Nobody else goes out and plays for us, it's down to those 11 players.

You can blame all of the above in one way or another. If you carefully analyse it though I only come up with one answer. Mark Hughes.
Briatore creates a media frenzy about the way he interfered in team affairs and the lack of money he gave the previous managers. They also, rightly, bang on about how many managers he hired and fired in a short space of time and how this hindered our promotion chances over a period of 3/4 seasons. So the media and Briatore are to blame for the past and for planting a seed for the new owners to know how NOT to run the club under the new regime.
Fernandes comes in and is completely different in his approach to the way he deals with everyone. He's immediately friendly, enthusiastic & genuine. He doesn't want to make the same mistakes as Briatore and Ecclestone and you can bet your bottom dollar Amit had plenty of horror stories to tell Tony as well. So he sticks with Warnock as we kick off our Premier League 2011/12 season and decides to bring in Hughes when Warnock's results and perhaps "motivation only" skills seem a little better suited to the Championship. It's a gamble but it just about pays off for that season. He backs his man and Hughes buys the wrong players. No centre backs meaning Hill and Nelsen play every game, ageing money grabbers and a lack of plan B, let alone plan A means he fails. He sticks with his man for too long but having fired Warnock 11/12 months earlier doesn't want to look like another Briatore. Harry comes in, gambles on a goal scorer and a decent CB that was clear for all to see we needed back in August and we go down anyway.
Who's fault was it for bringing in ageing money grabbers? Hughes
Who's fault was it for not bringing in any centre backs? Hughes
Who's fault was it for not bringing in a good goal scorer? Hughes
Who's fault was it hiring a manager without any character? Fernandes
Who's fault was it that Tony stuck with Hughes too long? Briatore
Who convinced the board the days of Vine and Aygemang would be long gone and players he would bring in on long contracts would be worth it? Hughes and Rigg
Who's to blame? Hughes.
