  • Could you build a Championship winning side around Faurlin?

Hi guys. Having read in the news that Ale wants to come back even if we're relegated, it got me thinking if we go down and Taarabt leaves, could Faurlin take the "#10" role and be the main creative outlet in the midfield? And would it be good enough to come straight back up? I'd be curious enough to give it a try, it's going to be hard to attract a better class of player in the 2nd division. Your thoughts?

Apologies if this has been covered in another thread.

problem is Harry doesnt seem to rate him. By the sounds of it he hasnt been setting Serie A alight either so probably hasnt done enough to change opinions. would be great to have him back at his best next season though and is a great asset in the championship

He is a great player, but I wouldn't build the team around him. He has obviously quality, but in a midfield of 2 holding players he is perfect, knows when to get forward and when to stay. And with regards to his time in Serie A, Palermo have had 3 managers in the time he's been there and has only made 2 appearances. Let's get him back in the summer and get him fit first. His injury was massive, it completely stopped me playing football as it ruined my knee and my mentality, let's hope he's strong and can overcome it.

          I totally agree.

Hopefully, Faurlin will make a full physical and mental recovery from the injury and if he can reproduce his form from 2010-11, he could be a really good player to have in midfield, possibly alongside Jenas.

I also agree with comments about his injury. I had the same injury and whether it is my knee or mentality,4 and a half years on, I have not fully recovered.

Yet you can waste your time telling him you can't be bothered to waste your time slating him?

            Cool, makes sense.

Can't get my head around why he was loaned out in the first place; he only made 2 appearances, surely he would have made more than that by staying put and possibly helped us to win a couple more games?

I hope Harry gives him a chance in the summer because he is more than good enough in the championship as we all know and was doing the business in the prem prior to his injury also. He will be on relatively low wages so perfect player to have around and if he was to play and have a good year, hopefully with promotion also, he could regain his belief and become the player we thought he might.

Well if you do manage to conjure up the massive energy you require to say why you think it's ridiculous, feel free to do so. Believe me when I say I am tingling with anticipation.

Thanks for the actual responses, I just wanted to put the question out there.

It does appear that Harry doesn't want to use him, and in making the topic I was kind of assuming he will find a way out if/when we go down and whoever the new guy would be would give everybody a fresh start (except maybe Joey...). But kenthoop you make a good point, his type of injury is very hard to come back from fully so perhaps building a side around him would be a step too far. I really hope he has some role to play in our efforts to get back up though.

Good Championship player but not so sure he is premiership quality tbh which is why i think he was loaned out after his injury. In fact we have a load of poor CM's not even good enough for Championship...Mbia, Park etc

I think again it was Faurlin's agent. He (the agent) wrote a number of articles saying that Ali was no longer happy at QPR. This doesn't appear to have been the case. The agent was trying to get a permanent move to Italy but I understood the club refused. Hopefully Faurlin will change agent and come back to QPR next year. Also I don't think the club gave him enough time to recover from his injury. MH brought him back into the team too early. The team was not doing very well to begin with and he lost confidence. The only game I remember where he played as far as I can remember was when he was paired with Granero.

Because he is no where near good enough the fact that you would even come up with the idea makes you pretty clueless in my view
