Was having a debate with a mate (Chelsea nugget) who suggested given our size we are a relatively successful club in comparison to other sides the last 30 years.
The thinking is that although we have had three relegations (includes impending one) we have finished Londons top club and were punching above our weight in the top flight for a good 5 years in the 90s. Add to this we have made a League Cup Final an FA Cup final and LDV Semi Final a Play Off Final and had 3 promotions (two of which we were champions) that's not bad going.
There are many sides who are classed as bigger then us (Albeit attendances/profile etc) who have not done anything during that period they don't go up neither do they go down they just stagnate (Can apply to sides in both Prem and Champ).
So on the basis are we or have we been a successful club in that period??
