  • Does experience matter?

While watching todays results, i asked a question to myself.

Does experience matter in the prem league?

With villa and southampton who both clearly have more youth than 30 plus in their squads, are both easing away from relegation while ageing teams like us and reading along with a stuttering stoke and sunderland is this eperience fad that many people in the game which like to go on about just a falicy?

Also look at young teams like swansea and west spam.

Hungry young talent with skill and pride and the want to win.

I would rather my team be like that than some bunch of "experienced" overpaid lot thats been and done it all.

Need a balance in the team i think but i got too agree we definately need some upcoming hungry players instead of the overpaid benchwarmers that nobody else wants that we keep signing.

Ability is most important. Brett Angell was incredibly experienced when he joined us, but, sadly, played like he was a Sunday League striker.

our players have let us down it's as simple as that. vblock's right you need a mix, but how is it you think we have an old squad? Granero has been poor, he ain't old, Hoilett the same, Mackie not been as influencial, Mbia's not old. The otherside of the coin is our best player up till the end of jan was Nelson although Cesar has been disappointing.
Spose i'm saying its more about attitude than age

good post. Ya maybe right mate.

Just a side note on granero. After spending so much of his carrer at real madrid and had plenty of medals. Its now obvious in hindsite that he would not take our club that serious or put in the effort on the pitch along with his non inclusion in harry's starting 11, he appears not to be putting much into training either.

              All about attitude.

Sadly, our squad has far more than it's fair share of shirkers. Those that don't perform to their ability because they have been made too comfortable.

And having a manager that is incapable of changing those attitudes and plays his favourites regardless of the opposition, does not help one bit.

Yeah i think that is a very good point, i never thought it would matter but he just can't seem to motivate himself......actually in that case you do have a point regarding your op.

Then we have players like townsend and fabio, both belonging to other clubs and yes they have the ability but boy do they bust their lungs out each and every game too.

that is what its all about, players that have not been on the big stage and wants to make a piont and to prove themselves.

this i believe is the way we need to go. buy talented youth and help them progress. its affordable, economicable for our small club and profitable in the long term. only when we have a bigger fanbase along with a bigger stadium that is filled each week can we and should progress to buying the likes of granero and cesar and barton as then these types of players will probably take us (qpr) more seriously and will more often than not, put in the effort for the club.

just my thoughts of the day but yes, i could be totally wrong.

We need to go round the country and invest in this area.

We end up with the likes of Boswinga amd Traore...where is their hunger to do well and succeed? As for Samba..he's just a poor mans Ryan Nelsen (poor after we have paid his fee and wages for a year anyway:-) )

I hope we've had someone watching the Championship and lower leagues, we need to bring in the young and hungry players who want to win!

We can avoid going bust in the CC by reducing the squad to the very minimum. We can try and keep the best best of what we have (Remy, Taarabt, Samba, Holliet, Faurlin, Mbia, Green, the Korean lad, Onohua, Mackie, Jenas), add some of our youngsters and if need be, we make loans from the Premier. We can be competitive and reduce our deficit.
