"Steve, do you think 25k is a good option when there are indications that within four years, new stadiums on average have increased attendances of 60%?
For us that would mean around 29k."

I used to be the daddy at subbuteo used to score from all over the pitch.

I think I still have the bits in the loft but if I set it up for a match kids now adays would look at me like I have lost it and ask where is the control pad.

I had QPR, Everton, Liverpool and Norwich (Shame on me)

A good story, but all too familiar now with this current generation...still, get them playing and they'll chuck those controllers away for good!!!!...btw guess you were bending the rules somewhat by scoring from all over the pitch.......

I used to work with a guy who was a massive collector. He used to buy teams and have them sent to my address, as his wife used to go mental at the money he used to spend.

He paid stupid money once for a Ducla Prague heavy weight team???? (If my memory serves me right that might mean they are an older version) tw can confirm?

love that story, sending all his purchases to you...! lol!! The heavyweights were from around the late sixties early seventies era, but being Dukla Prague might have bumped the price up..there was a song inspired by Subbuteo called " All I want for Christmas is a Dukla Prague away kit" by Half man Half Biscuit!!! the HWs were best imo.

I remember him telling me about that song. He played a fella once who wrote a book about it. Think he's name was Daniel Tetarski or something?

He was like a kid at Christmas!

Seriously, he used to pay top dollar for some teams

                      this one i think...looks a good book.

See your book is still for sale on Amazon TW...some good reviews, some bad reviews but this one made me laugh :-)

"It was with a sense of real eagerness that I bought and began reading this book. I had hoped for an insight into the mind behind the world's greatest football game. How wrong I was. What we have here is a poorly written, disjointed account of flash cars, womanising, trips on the QE2 and other general tittle tattle, written by the son of the game's inventor. The use of language and sentence structure are quite dreadful in places. Mr Adolph's expensive public school education (of which he has much to say) clearly did not include basic grammar, and the book's publishers should look closely at their editorial and proof-reading staff.

Even the most avid Subbuteo fan will be disappointed by this lacklustre affair. Save your money, don't buy this book. Indeed, as Mr Adolph is at great pains to point out throughout, his entire life has been subsidised by Subbuteo; he surely doesn't need our money to help him sustain that lifestyle."

Just goes to show you cant please everyone :-)

You are correct V that is mine..that review you undoubtedly took great pleasure in highlighting here, was in fact someone who I knew, and had an axe to grind with my dad going back years, so no surprise he take the opportunity to dig the knife in...water off a ducks back as it goes, as the good reviews and positive feedback I have had far outweigh the bad ones. When I did the book launch in Rome (they love Subbuteo in Italy), it was an amazing experience...I did an interview on Italian TV, did a Q and A session and I had people queuing up to have their books signed ..... a celeb in Rome!!! If you or anyone here would like a copy, I can let you have a signed copy for a reduced price as QPR fans. Just let me know and I can sort it. Or you can get it on ITunes if you want!!!!
