  • Would it have been better to have been relegated last season?

It would have given us a year to rebuild and hopefully coming into the big money this season?

If we go down, that could be the case, however, this season has rewarded us more prem money, more lucrative sponsor money and we have a better squad, many of which we will retain going into the championship if that happens, so in reality will have a better chance of bouncing back than if we'd dropped last season.

No as TF would have kept Hughes and we would be in Blackburn's position now.....

I think it would have been better. Hughes would probably have stayed to rebuild and recruiting players who want to be here.

Plus you and the rest of the Park fan club would be probably claiming your Sunderland fans.

Doesn't change the fact TF is a park fanboy and would like to have him in his team. Park would have joined I believe and all the park fan boys would also be here.

his contract is up next season anyway and can you honestly say by looking at this season performances that he warrants another one? me neither, on his bike i hope.

And as for TF being a diehard fanboy well he also insisted Park be made Captain and look how long that lasted.

Since we are talking about what ifs. What is everybody's scenario if we had gone down. I think Hughes probably would have gone (though I am not too sure) and we could have brought in a manager more suited to the championship (Holloway?). I don't think Joey Barton would have gone out on loan because his ban would have ended sooner. Of the incoming players we would not have bought two goalkeepers, Granero, Park, etc. Also I don't think Redknapp would have become manager, though he did not have too many other offers and he wanted a team where he could commute.

agree with pretty much all that and it might have been better tbh. Certainly spared the fans the embarrassment of this season which would have been nice.
