... because although it won't be enough to keep us up, it would clearly show all English football fans what is obvious to me ....that we are a better team now than a significant number of sides that will finish clear of the relegation zone. Small comfort, I know, but some comfort. To stay up we'd probably need to win at least 6 out of 8, which would be the most memorable achievement in the club's history I believe.

I think 37 points survives on average but this might not be an average season. Probably better to pencil in 6 wins or 5 wins and two draws something like that - because falling short of that by a point might still work but 36 points might not.
I think Harry has done as well as he could so far on the football side of it but a big bit of any great challenge comes down to heart, character, cojones whatever you want to call it and that is in the players heads.
Clint Hil has got it, Zamora too, the january signings also, but in general a squad that wins 1 game in half a season is either a pub team or a team lacking stones - they will need to find some to climb the mountain, and find em fast.

still everything to play for.
If we win our next game and they lose its 4 points with 7 to play..... would anyone write that off. No so we've just got to get as many points as we can and see where it gets us. AS said before i don't see Sunderland picking up much at all as on shocking form and have Utd, Chelsea, Newcastle and Everton in their next 4. Wigan will remain insoncistent as they wont do what they did last year again, they'll win some lose some, same as Villa.
In my opinion though, IF we manage to scrape it, it will be Reading, Sunderland and Wigan that drop.

more power to you guys though.
Predicting football is mad but imo got to win the next two games to have any chance - do that and who knows could be a point or two points from safety as a result with 6 to play.
