Was that advice taken from somebody employed to give advice? probably. Been a total coq up of immense proportions these past two seasons. Either Phil or Tony himself is ultimately responsible. Clubs like Norwich and Swansea did it the old tried and trusted way by slowly and surely improving. Our policy was to chuck money at it and that policy has cost us. Not saying Tony has got to be hung drawn and quartered or abused on twitter or nonsense such as that as we have to hope he has learnt by his mistakes (and the fact that now because of his faliure we are totally reliant on him staying and funding the dross we have on huge wages). All these "In Tony i Trust" slogans are laughable tho..as is the "Tony loves our club" statements :-). Tony isnt a fan, he is here to make money (failed) and use the club as a marketing vehicle for his airline (success). As for the other stuff and the promises i think a few less soundbites and a few less tweets and some actual work started on "projects" would benefit his failing image more.

But name players who would have wanted to come to us at all?

Look at the players Swansea and Norwich have brought in over the last 2 seasons...did they go out and throw big money at benchwarming and past it players? No they was sensibly led from the top.

Agree but can you remind me young vblock, how much is harry getting paid to take us down?
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

That´s true. in an ideal situation we should have trawled the market for such players, but I´m not sure they would joined us. Again due to our bad reputation.
anyway for the future, like you imply, that could the way forward. But that begs the question; is Harry Redknapp the type of manager who wants to start from scratch(somehow) again...I know we have some promising young playing on our book already, so maybe it´s worth a try.

It's not a "perception of his lack of qualifications". It is a fact that he has no experience or background in football. That IMO is a big mistake having such a person in the position he holds. It's just asking to "have your pants taken down" as Harry put it, which is exactly what happened. Beard no doubt is a good businessman and did a good job with the London Olympics but football is a very unique business which he had no experience of.

You need to invest to be successful and having a CEO who is a businessman rather than a "football man" does make sense. Smart directors will take the advice of football people on which players to invest in and so far as I can see that is exactly what we have done. Many of those players have unfortunately not worked out but that is due to the Directors getting bad advice from the "football people" they trusted.
That's the whole point. It was only bad advice because it was advice given by people with ulterior motives like Joorabchian, where there was a clear conflict of interest between his own business one's and the club's. That advice was never going to be independent and in QPR FC's interests because of Kia's associations with Hughes and Rigg. That's the shady world of football agents for you, and for Beard to not see that just highlighted TF's naive error in not appointing a CEO with more of football business background, or at least appoint someone qualified alongside Beard to advise him of such matters.

            • Once upon a time some clubs used to appoint a DOF, but I don´t how common this is these days.
To be frankly, It could very well be that QPR need one of that sort.

The most important thing must be to appoint a Director of fotball with experience from fotball. :pleasantsuprise:

Ps. I appology. Rigg was a DOF. But he was to close to connected Kia and Hughes, obviously.
