Well exactly. This poll was put up without defining how long the ban would be, or what the 'banning threshold' is. Definitely sounds like mob justice to me - I'd say most forums I've ever been on include loads of posters who wouldn't survive a 'half the users have to like you' popularity contest, but they all added something.

Of course it has to do with whether he is popular. You are quite literally running a popularity contest to decide the blokes WATRB-fate. It's not like we're being asked to abstractly decide what we should do about annoying posters, this is a specific named example.

There is a good case to be made that he is a troll. Case in point his post where he was called out for saying "bully" eight times to which he responded with another post that, so far as I could see, was made with the sole intention of saying "bully" as many times as he could. Just an obnoxious wind up.

I originally voted "no ban" but after that post I'd change my vote if I could.

That is some of the dumbest logic I have ever seen. So if people call my views trolling, then I should not continue to post my views, for fear of being thought of as a troll? Way to go, Einstein! As I said, I don't give a sh1te about what bullies think, I say what I feel like saying, and if it offends someone, who cares? People need to grow thick skin, this is the Internet, there are kids starving in Africa, people dying in Syria, and here you guys are crying like babies becasuse someone over the Internet dismissed your footballing opinion as sh1te?

I laid out my case to the mods on why I am not a troll, whether they believe me or not, it is their prerogative. If they decide to give me a life ban, so be it. As I said, their forum, their rules, the TOS explicitly state that the mods can ban anyone without specifying a reason, so I don't have much of a case. I would be strongly against such an action, on the principle of it, but hey, as I said, there are much worse things happening in the world so I'll just get on with life. At least I will go knowing that I did not let the bullies win and fought right till the end for exposing them for what they are.

I had a quick trawl through his posts and didn't really see much in the way of criticism personally. I did however sense a deal of frustration about a couple of things, but we all get that.

WeAre, you do make me laugh. Only the other week you were slaughtering the person who finally banned you, not knowing who it really was, believing it to be somebody else. And when informed of it, went on to say what a great poster he was.
The reason you were banned was for persistent trouble making and nonsense. And for the record, I did not approve anything. In fact, I have just been looking at discussions that took place around the time.

Just to set your mind at rest mate, why not PM all current and previous moderators and ask them if I have ever, even just once, proposed or wanted you banned from this site. Then have the decency to come back and retract that statement. Preferably, with a better acknowledgement than you gave to Loneranger on the thread you started in the general section.

I could go on, but I wouldn't wish to come across as a bully.

You're talking about people crying like babies...yet you cry like a baby on a daily basis because of these so-called bullies (aka people who dare to have a different opinion or who disagree with you in any way).

The poll expires on Monday, as will this thread. Yes I did create it with the best intentions and certainly never expected this amount of reaction. With the benefit of hindsight perhaps it wasn't the most appropriate course of action, but it's done now and it's here. However I do reject the accusation that this is some kind of "mob-justice" as this would be an insult to our 57 members who voted, the majority of whom are all well-respected, long-term posters. This was an exceptional circumstance in which ONE poster has become the constant cause of thread-hijacking and flame-wars, and only the 2nd occasion in this forum's history that we've had to resort to the measure of taking a public poll. And as previously stated, defining trolling can be a very grey area. I therefore agreed with another poster that in this case putting it to a public vote would be a fairer way to make such a discernment, however distasteful that may be perceived by some.

Most of the 57 aren't well respected, most of them are lackeys, who don't like it when someone goes against their view. If you criticise Harry, no matter how reasonable your criticism is, they will start calling you clueless, and not being true fans of the club. It is only when things start going bad do they then start to criticise the manager, and then act as if they knew all along the manager was not suitable.

Case in point: Mark Hughes. Go and read my opinion on him. I stated he is not a good manager, that he is not the right one for us, that he was mediocre at Fulham, yet there were people arguing with me that he is a proven good manager. Now those very people say MH was sh1te.

I don't believe in knee-jerk nonsense, or forming opinions just because Shearer or some other ***** said so. I like to analyse all the facts, and then come to my own conclusions.

I would like to be able to continue posting, as this is a very special season, and the club is in a very interesting point in it's history. It is important that we have people like me who give thoughtful insight on the current situation of the club and where it is heading, because there are not many people here who think for themselves, and so there is the danger that the club could head in the wrong direction and it is too late before people realise. But it seems as if you will let the poll decide my fate, and I am sorry, it IS mob justice. It is a few bullies that have stirred up an atmosphere of hate that has influenced normal people to join in and want me banned. The whole tenet of freedom of speech is that people with opinions that are unpopular should be allowed to express them. I mean, no one in a democratic society wants to ban popular opinions, it is always the unpopular opinions that they want banned. And that is why freedom of speech exists, because sometimes, opinions that might be unpopular, might not be so because they're "wrong", but because they're opinions that don't make people feel good about themselves. No one wants to hear bad things being said about their clubs, but let me tell you this - if Leeds or Pompey or Glasgow Rangers fans had sat up and criticised their clubs, they would not be in the sorry situation where they are today.

I didn't promise. I said I had no intention of posting, because I made all the important points I had to make over the weekend. My only intention is to quickly skim the forums to see if there is any interesting news, but when I see that the bullies are STILL going on writing sh1te, then I post a few messages here and there, not because I care about the sh1te they're coming out with, but because I just want to set the record straight on principle.
