As it goes he is on my ignore list so I don't really see what he posts. Change I would make is to reduce the number of people who can make new threads which would remove a lot of the duplication and pointless threads. That is the simple change.

But also if you look at sites like http://www.reddit.com and http://slashdot.org they get 1000 times the amount of OT and odd and duplicate and spam and troll posts but you don't see them because they have things like up/down voting and Karma points etc which usually means unless you want to see the unpopular/odd posts you don't. I think the mods should have a look at that too because it only takes a minority to spoil it for the majority and they have found ways around that could be copied.

Seriously, he's probably bashing one out now in his tarquin hat at the thought of a 6 page thread as to whether he should be banned or not. This board is turning really pathetic. Mods just do you jobs, make a decision and stick by it. Sticky usage notes on how to add people to your ignore list then those that wouldn't give him the steam off their jimmy riddle can ignore him and the others can join his tarquin fan club. I haven't had to listed to that jobs worth for months and the world is a better place. Job done...

I appreciate that as mod your job is to keep the majority happy, but the majority of QPR fans are sensible, and are willing to listen to other opinions. That is why many people think I am ok, they might not agree with me, but they like hearing opinions, just as I like hearing theirs. I don't like listen to the rubbish that the bullies come out with, and that is why the bullies are trying to get me banned. As I said before, bullies are very insecure people, the moment they feel someone is about to challenge their power, they have a breakdown and will try anything to get rid of that person. Most people on this forum just ignore the bullies because they're too old and sensible to argue with them, and I should too, and that is why I left this forum at first, but then I thought, why should the bullies be dictating what is said at this forum, and I decided to stand up to the bullies. Remember, bullies are cowards that thrive on belittling other people because of their own inferiority complex, so if you stand up to them and don't cave in, sooner rather than later they will run off.
What is this obsession you have with the word 'bully'? That's 8 times in one paragraph. If there's any instances of genuine bullying going on then trust that mods will deal with that. This is a public democratic vote with a simple yes or no option. That isn't "mob justice". If the majority of members vote for you to stay then of course you're welcome to stay and keep posting to your heart's content so long as you stick to the rules. Yes, I agree it seems a bit distasteful deciding this way but staff are actually quite undecided on this one, and a poster suggested doing a poll so we thought why not. At least it's transparent and democratic, allowing our members to have a say on something that's been the cause of so much in-fighting here lately. The poll closes in a week so everyone has a chance to vote.

Marshy should stay. Under the currently enforced standards, I don't think Marshy deserves a permanent ban.

It's true that Marshy has been going at it pretty heavily the past few days, and that the quality of his posts degraded severely as he began pouring out posts, but I think he was simply trying to reply to every post which went against his opinions, as a way to make his opinions heard.

It was, in my opinion, a bad and destructive way to go about expressing his opinion, but I must say that there are other posters on this forum who do something quite similar, often with a more crude or offensive tone. Granted, Marshy's posts were more self-righteous. I think he has toned that part down in the past 12 hours though.

What makes Marshy stand out is the sheer quantity of threads and posts he made in the past few days. If he made only a handful of posts of the same content and nature, I doubt people would have started wondering whether he is trolling.

As long as he agrees not to spam the forum with similar posts (which some people do on a regular basis, just with less quantity), I think Marshy should stay, unless the stricter standards will be applied to everyone hereafter and bans will be handed out to offenders regardless of popularity.

Adding someone to your ignore list, whilst not an option for me, would seem the most appropriate way of going about things. If nobody responds to his ramblings, then it will be far more upsetting for him than a ban.

Got to be worth a try (Hint, Hint).

I admit that I am reluctant to say ban him but, having done a little research, it has become clear to me that his mere presence now causes so many threads to go off-topic that part of me says "do it".
I had a little count up and, of the threads I checked, about 20% of them descended into slanging matches due to Marshy's presence. Note that not all were necessarily his fault (IMO), it just seems that others are so used to his ways that they immediately go on the offensive with him now.
Based on what I have read, it would help if he can state his opinions less forcefully (stop claiming they are facts, use the phrase "in my opinion" a bit more). Also, I think he could stop claiming that he has a unique ability to see "the big picture" and everybody else needs to see it the same way. And maybe he could accept that others may know something about the game too.
Somehow I think it is probably too late now though......

Stay, obviously. At least Marshy backs up his points with the odd argument for why he thinks that way. This forum is full of one line posts that just repeat the same cliches we've all heard a million times already that week. At least Marshy provokes some debate.

And a lot of these debates are really worth having. The merits of Adel, whether TF is driving us off a cliff, what our best formation is. If it takes a provocative OP to get people thinking about their beliefs, then so be it. That's a good thing. Far too many people uncritically parrot the received wisdom around here.

Marshy is clearly a bit of a troll, but so what? Being a QPR fan and a contrarian aren't mutually exclusive.

Very poor form for an admin to post this kind of thread tbf. Marshy may be an attention seeker, but if he's done something ban-worthy, ban him. If he hasn't, don't.
