Matty check out Marshy's outrageous comments in the thread to the hero we lost in Afghanistan... Someone like that doesn't deserve the support of someone like you....

Wow Marshy. That's farking pointless. As somebody said on there; time & a place for such comments. You really are a wrong un. Talking waffle about football I can find amusing, but when you're hijacking a condolences thread with controversial political statements? W@nker.

            • Most surprising in that thread is the news that the mods think we aren't grown up enough to have political discussions on here.

Shouldn't discourage intelligent conversations just because there's a few posters who can't hold their temper.

                This.

Marshy's posts in that thread were ridiculously innocuous, especially the first one (which caused someone to tell him to f off). I expected far worse when I clicked on it.

We had several pages the other day of people justifying the 'Drogba's got Aids' song. I reckon there are far, far more people in this country who share Marshy's views on Afghanistan than people who think its ok to sing about an African having Aids. Do 'controversial political statements' only count when they come from the left? (though Marshy's argument in the soldier thread could easily be from a right-wing isolationist viewpoint of course)

If you read again - you will see the problem people have is with the time & place of Marshys comments so you're little comparison is way off. If somebody had randomly brought up the condoning of a Drogba has AIDs song in a condolences thread for a fallen hero, then it would have been just as bad, if not worse than Marshy's comments. But the fact he brought his up on such a thread is what has got people's backs up. Well, speaking for myself anyway.

                    Very true Deeps.

I do think it should be encouraged but not in that sort of thread, theres a fine line that Marshy crossed imo.

Having views that we shouldnt be in Afghan is fine by me but its like those ****s that used the funerals of fallen soldiers to protest against the war.

                      Time and place.

I'm amazed this simple human point has to be made. And several times. Absolutely amazed. It's common decency. And its positive proof of what some of us have been saying about such people.

He didn't 'randomly bring it up' though. It was a thread about a guy who died in Afghanistan, so of course the context of his death (the war, the decision to send him there, why people are trying to kill our soldiers etc etc) is relevant.

Are we seriously so immature and incapable of debate here that the only responses allowed in that thread are variants on "RIP"?

He wasn't stood outside the funeral waving a sign, he made a post on a messageboard full of people who don't even know the guy.

Exactly this - and this thread hijacking is non stop. On the thread concerned there was even less need than normal. The man himself kind of accepted that:-

"But I will not go into it here because this thread is for the memory of someone, and I do not want to spoil it"........... But then proceeded to "go into it" in that very same post and did "spoil the thread" and the nature of the thread by doing the very thing he said he wouldn't do.

And people wonder why the whole situation has arrived at where it has

                                I never said he was.

He has used a thread dedicated to people that want to pay their respects to a man that has died serving his country and happens to be a fellow QPR fan to get yet another of his views across.

                                Its as simple as that.
