Shouldn't discourage intelligent conversations just because there's a few posters who can't hold their temper.
Marshy's posts in that thread were ridiculously innocuous, especially the first one (which caused someone to tell him to f off). I expected far worse when I clicked on it.
We had several pages the other day of people justifying the 'Drogba's got Aids' song. I reckon there are far, far more people in this country who share Marshy's views on Afghanistan than people who think its ok to sing about an African having Aids. Do 'controversial political statements' only count when they come from the left? (though Marshy's argument in the soldier thread could easily be from a right-wing isolationist viewpoint of course)

I do think it should be encouraged but not in that sort of thread, theres a fine line that Marshy crossed imo.

But the fact he brought his up on such a thread is what has got people's backs up. Well, speaking for myself anyway.
Are we seriously so immature and incapable of debate here that the only responses allowed in that thread are variants on "RIP"?

"But I will not go into it here because this thread is for the memory of someone, and I do not want to spoil it"........... But then proceeded to "go into it" in that very same post and did "spoil the thread" and the nature of the thread by doing the very thing he said he wouldn't do.
And people wonder why the whole situation has arrived at where it has#standuptocancer

He has used a thread dedicated to people that want to pay their respects to a man that has died serving his country and happens to be a fellow QPR fan to get yet another of his views across.
Its as simple as that.
