You are a very generous man with someone else's money, aren't you? You say Fernandes has "huge personal wealth". Er, he is apparently worth £250m/ £300m - we cd quite easily be spending a tenth of that in this transfer window alone. This isn't Monopoly money you know. All v well to say "we cd recoup the money if we go down". Well how much is a anyone going to pay a Championship club for 32-year-old players with relegation clauses in their contracts? Not a lot wd be my guess. I like your enthusiasm for the club but, with the greatest respects, I'm mightily relieved you aren't our CEO.
TF as far as im aware owns 22%...plus players have sell on value...also there is a £30mill per year(ithink) parachute paymen for 4 or 5 years. plus the (i presume) worthwhile gamble of staying up
Tony and his other two consortium members own two thirds. Lakshmi Mittal the other third. If the budget is £30m, Tony's share is around £6.5m. For a man worth a reputed £400m and rising, it's not a lot and definitely worth the risk.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Why the assumption that its rising, and why the inflated figure? In case you haven't noticed there is a global recession on and airlines are doing particularly badly. You are also ignoring the fortunes he and the board have put in to buy the club and fund two earlier transfer windows. "Definitely worth the risk"? To you of course because you have absolutely nothing to lose. Not such an easy decision to someone who has worked their entire life to build their fortune. The other two partners are reportedly worth similar amounts to Fernandes. The Mittels are different league but as you well know, it is far from clear that the father in law who holds the money is keen to invest that much. In short its like you dashing out and buying a really expensive car. Maybe you can afford it, but its not without consequences and will mean you won't be able to buy other things. You just need to be a bit more intelligent about putting yourself in the other guy's shoes.

And I read somewhere recently that his businesses are doing well so one would assume his personal fortune is growing. The fact that he's putting his hand in his pocket this window, like every other window, suggests he thinks it's worth the risk, thus throwing your typical know-it-all comments right out the window. speculate to accumulate I think it's called.
Oh, and I do have something to lose. If this goes wrong, my club could be gone, but don't let that small fact get in the way of your rant....

I care too and I wholeheartedly agree with what others have said about the valuation. If we spend 10M then TF has more money than sense. 3-4M would be my valuation too.
'Only a Ranger!' cried Gandalf. 'My dear Frodo, that is just what the Rangers are: the last remnant in the South of the great people, the Men of West London.' - Lord of the Rings, Book II, Chapter I - Many Meetings.
David Bentley - according to Sky Sports we are interested in him (but AVB said tonight that he does NOT expect anyone to leave before the window shuts).
Levy as usual will be the one to make the final decision on that

Apologies if you think I'm a know it all, I am sure I am wrong loads of times. Apologies also that I highlighted your post, in truth it could have been one of several from other posters. I was simply trying to make the point that some fans - maybe not you - are far too cavalier about spending tens of millions of pounds of others peoples money when even proportionally they tend to be far more cautious about spending money in their own lives. Its easy to say "speculate to accumulate" - but you are clearly an educated person so will know that for everyone who accumulates after speculating there is probably at least one other who loses. I'm not arguing against spending - I'm just saying we should be aware of the downsides, and be incredibly grateful that we have owners who are prepared to take that risk. Apologies once again if I caused offence.
