Trouble is we made our bed when we picked Hughes and he's who we've got now and we need to get behind him and the team to give them the confidence to win... at least until Tony decides enough is enough.
This is a good take at it,IMO.

Just out of interest, if our losses are all Hughes' fault, who gets credit for the fantastic home winning streak that kept us up last season? We need to be patient, but I agree that it is getting harder as the losses mount.

Also agree with other posters about our defence. Absolute crap. Ferdinand is not a Premier League Centre Back - looked more like a pub league bench warmer on their second goal.

Performances have been abysmal, but he did well with Blackburn and Fulham, and OK at City so he can't be a complete mug. I think the club needs to give him more time, not because he deserves it, but because I think that if he does turn it around, we'll do really well. That said if we make it to the halfway point in the season and we're still in the relegation spots he has to go.

To be honest I don't think it's all Hughes fault. Everybody's to be blame for the rut we're in... players just as much as the manager. The biggest problem is the lack of confidence that the whole team is in at the moment. And it's Hughes' fault for not inspiring the team with some confidence or grit at this particular time when we most need it. Of course our defence at the moment is not good enough... (Ferdindand's the case in point) Injuries of course have played a big part too. And had we not had that bad string of players getting injured during the Chelsea game we might be in a different position in the table and singing Hughes' praises. I don't think Hughes is an incompetent manager. Probably not a great manager but definitely not a bad one. Of course he's made mistakes, but you got to take risks too and a lot of the time in management mistakes go unnoticed.

                Stick with him.

You honestly want us to sack another manager, 7 games into a season, and become the laughing stock of the PL? Would be no improvement from Tango & Cash - laughable decision. And who would we bring in thats better eh?

Agree with that Matty but if we lost the next 3-4 which is VERY possible would you keep the same manager knowing we are running out of games & falling away?

In all fairness, if we lost the next 4 I think we probably would have to go. That would more than likely mean we would be cast well adrift at the bottom and the dressing room would be well deflated. Couldnt see there being any comeback from that.

I seriously dont think thatll be the case though, I think we will nick a couple of wins soon..... I hope anyway!!

I was fairly upbeat after the performance against Spurs but three more defeats since and I'm starting to be concerned. What worries me is that MH seems to have had a personality bypass. He's a "grey" man like John Major.Shows no real passion for the game, and can hardly be called charismatic. Not that that is necessarily a failing, but he always comes across the same in all his post match interviews.Keeps saying that the lapses in defence and conceding careless goals is disappointing, yet seems to do nothing to remedy the problems.Give me characters like Ollie or 'Arry boy any day of the week.MH needs to start kicking a few arses and shake up some of of our prima donnas otherwise there's only one way we're going.

This is almost irrelevant now that Tony has come out so strongly in favour of Hughes. We either fully back the team under Hughes or turn on Tony.

Surely only one possible answer to that.

Bad squad decisions (3 strikers, 2 of which are injury prone & the other doesn't score) goalkeeper fiasco & no decent CB is unforgivable in my opinion.

I don't honestly think we should pull the trigger just yet after 7 games but if we dont get something from our next home game everton then I'd say enough is enough.
After 7 games is too soon but 8 is just fine then?

With Harry here, can't imagine what Adel will do as he was frozen by him at Spurs, so to be under his guidance again will surely frighten him. And we have not many Adels in our team!
