42 shots? Something had to give tbf
Depends on your definition of battering us.

I happen to believe that MH's strategy was clear intelligent and effective; to defend in numbers and rely upon counter-attacks, and boy did it work..... until those last couple of minutes.

We were full value for our lead because we were very single-minded, whereas Citeh were like headless chickens as far as achieving their goal was concerned. I honestly think that we would have held out if the news had not filtered through to the team.

Agree Shania, if he only had jumped for the throw-in, we would have drawn. But he isn't a fighter. I was very pizzed off then, but don't care anymore.

This is my definition of battering us...

We may have chosen to try and soak it up, and for 90 minutes we were hanging on, but it was a battering nonetheless.

...and yet after 90 minutes we were 2-1 up and really should have held on for at least a draw.

          Players definitely got distracted IMO.

Yes, we'd done amazingly to hold on for so long, but as they got closer to the brink the pressure went up and up. It's not a big stretch to say we just ran out of luck under intense pressure.

I think it's a bit of both tbf, but I don't believe the players would have wanted to lose, that close to a famous victory.

Dzeko's introduction (with his height) and players getting distracted were the 2 factors IMO.

If bolton had won , we would all be cursing our pathetic championship class players collapse in the last 3 minutes.

                however,

Our great premiership heroes fought valiantly and only let their guard slip when they heard the bolton result.

Surely when we took the re start at 2-2 instead of kicking the ball forward back to them to start another attack it should of gone back to Paddy then he would of punted it forward and more time would have been eaten up and they probably would not of got the winner. But hey we survived and we stay where we belong.

two questions in one really here:
city did indeed deserve to beat us, and surprised it took them as long as it did
                    however
we were distracted at the end.

they would not have beaten us if we did not know we were safe.

Only saw it on MOTD that night, late on when I was unable to stand up let alone focus ,can someone tell me exactly how long it was from the bench knowing to City scoring the 3rd ? Because from my video we only knew 20 or 30 Seconds from the 3rd. BUT we all started that Sunday knowing it was going to be down to Bolton to drop points, I'm just glad we gave a good account of ourselves, lets hope we're safe a little earlier next season

For us that would mean around 29k."

probably true, but add to the mix that we were pretty shattered playing with only 10 men for the whole second half, and the injury time was just too much to hang on.

i was in the lower section there were cheers , rumours and stories all afternoon at one point the city fans to our right were singing about martin petrov so we thought he had scored , i suppose the players never knew the real truth either , at the end the game was won by drive, determination, tired legs and skill. what a game
