Difficult one. When on song makes a real difference but for me has been inconsistent for a few years now. Vardy and Kane bang on form and both hungry. Would personally play both of them and if Rooney can be slotted in behind somewhere great.

Get out the groups playing Vardy and Kane and then drop Vardy and play Rooney when the opposition becomes a lot more difficult and dangerous in the later stages.

Papers think the teams will line up like this

        Hart

        walker smalling cahill rose

        dier

        rooney ali

        Lallana

        Sterling Kane

        or a 4 3 3 set up as below-

        Hart

        Walker smalling cahill rose

        dier
        rooney Ali

        Lallana Sterling
        Kane

Personally I just don't get what Roy is playing at. Ali should be further up the pitch but hes changing formation to try and put in Rooney. I think a 4 2 3 1 formation would offer us a much more balanced team with some very good options on the bench.

        Hart

        Walker smalling cahill rose

        dier wilshire

        Sterling Ali Rooney/Lallana

        Kane

Can see alli starting on the bench. Making an impact as a sub and in later games, easing him into the tournament. Rooney vardy Kane up top with dier Wilshire and milner in midfield. Width provided by full backs, dier dropping, allowing the front 3 to remain quite narrow. Can see how it works but worry it's a bit conservative

              No. Wayne should play.

Lallana for me is too ineffective to start. He has no killer instinct and can't shoot for ####. Yes he can be creative with some clever deceptive passing but I want players who if the opportunity arises can also take a shot as well. He's scared to it seems and fluffs sitters when he has no alternative but to shoot.

Also people saying the last game because Rooney played the front two played too wide.... that's ######. They played too wide because the system was wrong and Roy didn't sort it. He was in a midfield diamond, not a front 3, so shouldn't impact their positioning. They choose to drift wide leaving a void centrally for him, that was stupid and all it did was prevent the full backs the space to move into. They should've stayed relatively compact with Rooney at the tip of the diamond behind creating a triangle between them, and by doing so leave space for Rose and Walker to exploit creating the width.

He's played very well for Utd in midfield so no reason he can't if put there for England. He's better than most of our midfielders in that position. I would personally like to see Wiltshire in the side more than the likes of Lallana. I think he is a class act and if fit needs to be in there. His close link up play and creativity is superb.

Also I think the best use of Vardy would be as an impact sub against tiring defenders.

That's what I think Roy will go with. Can't see him dropping milner who was ever present in qualifying. Also don't think alli will be played in a deeper role more no. 10.

Rooney is a great player and he has to play, i think Vardy will be an ideal impact player like when he came on as sub against the Germans and scored a great team goal. I think that Barclay should be involved more as well as he is capable of turning a game in a flash. The best England performance for years was against the Germans and Welbeck and Lallana both started, so Rooney for Lallana and Stirling for Welbeck ( who I think we will miss, never let's England down). With Barclay and Vardy coming on for last half hour or so. Getting that nervous excited feeling now..........and also whilst I think of it good luck to our Conor Washington who I hope gets a chance and glows which will set him up nicely for next season!!

When playing as the underdog, yes. We should play vardy against teams who will have more of the ball. Against the lesser teams, i'd play rooney behind kane.

Not convinced that Kane and Vardy can strike up a partnership, Vardy i think would work better with Rooney.

Sturridge is for me our best striker, but never ever fit.

I wouldn't even have in him the squad. He's holding back club and country.

He doesn't have the brains to play #10, the pace for the wing, and is wasteful as a striker. Would rather Sturbridge, Kane or Vardy ahead of him.

In CM he'll be a liability. But the media campaign is too strong, he'll play regardless.

I'd play 433 or 4231 with Kane as the striker and Sturridge/Vardy coming off the bench. We're always trying to force players into their club positions and it doesn't work and international level. Reminds me when we used to force Gerrard and Lampard in the same side.

It's really dividing opinion here - we're split 50:50 on this; bit like the rest of the country. I guess we'll soon find out...but when was the time he had a good tournament for England? You'd have to go back to Euro 2004 as an 18 year old.

To say he's not worth a place in the squad and he's holding back club and country is utterly ridiculous. He's been our most consistent scorer for the last few years yet again, and top scorer in qualifying. Plus he is still a class player.

You refer to him as a liability and then promote Sturridge who's never fit for more than about 3 games in a row. He's a liability for club and country, not Wayne Rooney.

Top scorer in qualifying thanks to being penalty taker and bullying San Marino and Estonia. He hasn't performed against a top team for YEARS. And in every position of the pitch there's better alternative to Rooney.

Sturridge's injuries are an issue but he's still arguably our best forward and isn't injured at the moment. I'd always have him in the squad... if he's injured Vardy & Kane are more than enough cover.
