I like that 2nd team del. Certainly the right front 3 and Ali should be dropped for Wilshire as he's looked average at best

My only slight concern is if we start with both Sturridge and Vardy, it leaves little variables for change from the bench.... yes Rashford did surprisingly well when he came on and is one, but with Kane anonymous I wouldn't have any confidence he could come on and change things for the better when needed. That said, maybe that could suit him more coming into a match fresh off the bench to bolster an attack if needed, rather than being isolated like he had been..... Although Rooney could always push up and bring in people like Barklay I guess.

I agree as well Del, Alli will be brilliant but not quite there yet and I feel he has a potential red card in him when he gets taken out and Wiltshire should get a start but keep Vardy, Sturridge and Lallana. Englands bench is so strong this tournament and Woy has woken up to that now, fair play to him for making the right call but even my wife called those two subs for Kane and Stirling!

I never voted in this poll as I was more interested in seeing the consensus. I admit to being very impressed by Rooney in this deeper-lying position. His experience, passing range and attacking prowess are invaluable to this young squad. I'm also excited to see Rashford and Wilshere get more game-time as we can hopefully progress in the tournament. For me one of our biggest strengths is the quality of our bench.

Yeah. Said before the tournament the reason I had some optimism was because we had a young fresh squad full of confident and decent players who haven't had a load of expectation put upon them and not tarred by past failure, meaning they can just go out and play. In the main we have seen that with 2 very good attacking performances, bar Kane and Sterling.
When you think of people we have in reserve who have already made a difference off the bench, or others yet to but equally could like Barklay then it bodes well.
What will really, really #### me off is if he makes the right changes to the starting 11 and then brings on Sterling and Kane off the bench... before others. They have had their chance and fluffed their lines. Sterling shouldn't play again in the tournament. Kane there is an argument if we need an attacking bombardment he could still be useful, but sterling has done nothing good and cost us a sitter that could've screwed the whole tournament up. If we needed another wide option on the left i'd rather see Bertrand and Rose double up than Sterling on this form... at least they can get forward and whip a cross in, not always cut back and fail to deliver any end product.

Sterling's looking like another Walcott. Sure he's got pace but 0 final product. Agree with that team del, although I'm not Lallana's biggest fan by any stretch and think milner could do a job in his place. What has impressed me most is the brilliance of our full backs, who have stood out consistently this tournament. Probably the best duo in the tournament so far. The energy they bring is phenomenal and they just keep running up and down the pitch without much trouble at all. They're so vital to our game as a result and I can see the potential of replacing Sterling with Sturridge will only boost their confidence to overlap. I've enjoyed watching Alli play but agree with people here that I'd give him a break, Smalling's been impressive, Rooney is easily our best pure all round footballer, Wilshere if he gets a start will torment opposition defences with his genius on the ball and Vardy starting will pull the Slovak defenders all sorts of directions, opening space for Sturridge to run into which we know he will do. This England team really is an exciting one for once. Everyone knows their job and pulls their weight behind the front line and there is a good balance unlike the Lampard/Gerrard era. All we need is to tweak the attack, introduce pace early on when all our players are maxed out on creativity and we could see something positive come from this."What stats allow you to do is not take things at face value. The idea that I trust my eyes more than the stats, I just don't buy that because I've seen magicians pull rabbits out of hats and I know I just know that rabbit's not in there." - Billy Beane

I'm interested to hear others' views on our defence. So far Cahill and Smalling have impressed me as a partnership, but can't always say the same for Hart. Is the defence still considered our potential weakness which could get found out once we come up against more quality opposition?

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.
I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.
We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

For me though Wiltshire when fit has more quality than anyone bar maybe Rooney in the whole squad when it comes to interchanging and making things happen, not to mention his tenacity. Make no mistake Wilshire is a superb player, which makes it such a shame he's had so many injury hit seasons. I still remember when he bossed the midfield against a Barca side with the likes of Iniesta and Xavi at their peak as an 18 or 19 year old. Brilliant player.

People go on about Roy's 4-3-3 but when push came to shove against Wales we ended up in a diamond, Sturridge playing in behind as well. It really is excellent to see England with a plan B and moving things at pace.

Rooney's going to get badly exposed when we come up against a proper footballing side. He is so unimaginative on the ball, awful as a creative outlet despite what the media are trying to claim. Forget the passing stats, half of them were to Rose/Walker..
Ali and Wilshere are on a different wavelength to Wayne. Shame
