Yes Dave you're quite right....0h for those heady days under De Canio and even Magilton somewhat...

Are we rolling towards disaster - let's hope not

    • I and most will support Ramsey until it becomes too much and i can honestly see it going this way - I think its a car crash waiting to happen.
      Team selection, subs etc.

I still dont know why when HR left, we didnt get a shortlist together and interview candidates... We just did the same old thing and gave it to the 1st bloke that wanted the job.
Of course thats all by the by now but still...

I think Ramsey has been brought in as the cheap option, to balance the books and manage on a budget - Gaffers like Pearson and Allardyce would want a hefty wage which i dont think we can afford right now at this stage.

I would of preferred us to go for a younger manager in league 1/2/the champ.
Hasselbaink at Burton has done a brilliant job for example he would now be a better option than Ramsey.. I'm also a massive fan of Gary Rowett at Birmingham and Gareth Ainsworth. IMO there are better options out there who are more proven than Ramsey and would want a similar wage to what Ramsey is on.

      • One game in and a poll like this, Jesus we have some #####ic people who claim to support this team.
        Embarrassing.

I think the mitigating factor here is clearly Chris Ramsey's close relationship with Les. Les has been calling the shots on the footballing side ever since he became DoF (obviously), and Chris was his choice and his decision, I imagine. That's why no one else was considered or interviewed (in my opinion).

I take your point, but it has created some very interesting debate Merry...

I dont think you understand the thread if you are of this opinion.
This is not a Ramsey out poll, it is called in or out and there is a list of options detailing how you would like to support Ramsey should performances like Saturday continue to re-occur.

              • I'll give Ramsey till October, if things aren't looking like turning round by then he should go. Worst thing he ever did was give SWP a sendoff at Man City. I would've sacked him there and then for taking the ####.

10 games. Long enough to get his squad playing ok and implement his ideas, I really hope he does. If we're still poo then he's in trouble.

Spot on Bakes. People saying we have only played one game, clearly forget the main factor of him having since January to coach our premier league team which we all thought was good enough to stay up.

Thought he did some good things in the Prem West, Getting Philips firing and away wins at Brom and Sunderland were decent.

But he has made mistakes, and the jury is out. 10 games (and 8 months) in the job is enough imo to see where we are headed. If its L1 it's time for the gallows.

                    • Not being funny but...
If we did get rid after 10 games or so, whoever came in would inherit someone else's squad...AGAIN, leaving them with the "it`ll be different when I put my own squad together" schpeel.
At the moment with the transfer window open for us to buy (I think we`re 3/4 players from having a decent squad) and also sell (yeah yeah Chas, Fer,Phillips) leaves a lot up in the air, I feel that the rest of the transfer window is critical for the club, get it right with just a few shrewd signings and things will look rosy, but get it wrong by loseing players at the 11th hour without replacements lined up and we would have a very weak looking squad.
I know we would still be able to loan, but I hate loaning players, and we would just be left with the types than no-one wanted.

Phillips was the one thing he has done brilliantly, you are right.
To be honest with you, if he doesnt get a win in our first 5 league games then his future should come in to question - As you say though, his best pal is DOF so i dont think there is any chance of Ramsey leaving before the end of his 3 years.

                          Eh up dude

Can't help feeling we'll be left adrift a la Derbylona two seasons ago, but with no McClaren in shining white armour to take us up into the top six. Let's hope we get a big fat 6-0 win tonight and gain some much needed confidence!

                          • I'm pleased to see that over 80% of voters have said that if things are not right by Xmas he should go. That's a mature consensus.

Possibly. I am not convinced a lot of posters don't just see this kind of poll after one match and think I will just ignore it though.
Football is just so short-termist theses days.

Have to admit Clough coming available a week after we made Ramsey permanent was a sickener for me, he'd have been perfect for our rebuilding job.
