Yes, it keeps the smaller clubs in their place. In the lower leagues where they belong. Now that Chelski and Man U have established themselves at the top of the league by spending billions, nobody else should be allowed to do the same thing to challenge them.

I understand and identify with the problem they are trying to fix but they are going about it in totally the wrong way!

So whilst there is always a place for a bit of control and regulation to stop people from playing silly ######s - providing it's their money that they want to set on fire by paying the likes of SWP an alleged £80k PW - then who's to say they can't?

Nope it's intentions were to make a level playing field, but it actually causes more of an economic divide among clubs like Matty has said. Limits the amount of investment a club's owners can do. Is it UEFA who implemented this policy? FA?

This has been my view of it all along. All it really achieves is keep those that have at the top.
The clubs with bigger stadiums will usually attract more supporters = more funds to buy the better players to keep them ahead.
The freedom of contract rules mean smaller clubs cannot keep their best players. So how can FFP be a level playing field?

At the moment, it's a crock of she-height, but if it were properly thought through and administered by people who stuck to their (by this time, well thought through) guns, then it could be.

Problem is that the current rules seem like a huge over-reaction to a handful of isolated problems.

And we saw it happen. Not sure it's happening now because of the rules. You grow within your means which generally is not overnight. It was decades for the big clubs.

One could argue that if clubs were required to live within their means, then none would be allowed to make a loss.

Quite possibly, one of the worst thought out pieces of football legislation I can imagine has ever happened.
