  • I would welcome him back If he changes his attitudes and focuses on football more than talking $hit about his move to big clubs.

I'm not sure he's got it in him to change Yousef. As a character he is childish, petulant and self-centered. If somebody is like that at the age of 25 then he is never likely to change. In footballing terms, as a winger Adel is well past the halfway point of his career, I’m afraid he will never be anything more than wasted potential in my book. Let him find another club in Europe and take whatever we can get for him!

Especially when that period of improvement ended with him losing his temper and getting sent off in a huge match, and then losing his **** altogether and getting a 12 match ban, which ended with us packing him off to France.

Barton struggled for most of that season, and picked up for the last few games. Adel was one of our most productive players in the Prem, despite being disappointing in terms of the expectations we all had for him, along with some silly tantrums.

The fans gave Barton a chance, and a thouroughly undeserved (at the time) heroes welcome. The poll suggests that most would give the same chance to Adel.

I would love to see him at Rangers again, he has given me far greater pleasure watching him in his pomp than everyone bar Les I think, I also think he has a genuine affection for the club, but I don't see him coming back while Harry is here. Too much history between them.
Just so. I've come round to Joey Barton now as he did really well to knuckle down last season, but do we have to be massively grateful that he honoured his contract - in return for a reported Ł70,000 a week when it became blindingly obvious no one else would touch him?

As Deepcut says Barton struggled every bit as much as Adel in the Prem. To turn the question round, how many great games did Barton have in the Prem? I remember he did really well at Wolves away (but they were virtually like a Championship side). Liverpool at home anyone, when he put in one of the worst midfield performances by a QPR player since Marcus Bean? Against the big clubs he looked at best bang average. Hope I'm proved wrong but I fear the Joey Fan Club might be in for a bit of a shock next season when they see him up against world class players. Fully accept Adel may never fulfill his potential and he seems to be a petulant sod, but at least he has potential - some of our players (Henry, O'Neil if he stays) will NEVER be more than they are now.

I would welcome Gemma Arterton into my life if she were to ask me out. And that's gonna happen too......

Joey ... Also took balls to come back after the way he behaved towards us while at Marseilles. Could have sulked and refused and made it impossible. I actually think he has learned from it all.
So for Adel the only reason he's a QPR player is that no one will take him on but for Joey it took balls to come back? Surely it's the same reason for both why they are still QPR players.

I should perhaps have made myself clearer. What I meant with Joey was within the context of all his time in the Premiership, not just with us. I'd agree he wasn't that great for us at that level but he had many years in the Premiership prior to that where he had played well and was rated by his clubs and their supporters. What I meant was that the only track record Adel has in the Premiership is as a flop the majority of the time. Adel has had three years of chances with us and Foolham and bar the odd few games has not really taken them.

I would be delighted to be proven wrong with Adel but think it unlikely based on those three years. I will continue to have great memories of some of his moments, mainly in the Championship but a few since then, but really do feel it is time to move on.

Also as a team we have moved on from our Championship days of a few years ago. We are a team, not just a bunch of work horses accommodating one talented player. If Adel can change and adapt to fit in with the team as opposed to the other way around great but is that really realistically going to happen?

                  • Adel won us matches and points in the Premiership, more than anyone else we have in the squad. We would have gone down without him that first year, without doubt. I think it's harsh top say he flopped in the Premiership. Since then he's proven he can work in a team that isn't built around him.

It is pointless characterising him as a 'bad sort' and assuming that he's some kind of naughty school kid who has no ambitions and will drag the others down with him, because he's probably got the most to gain if he knuckles down in the next few years. But I guess people see Adel in a certain way because of what he's done and how he's been portrayed in the media and have already made their mind up about him. So we're just going round in circles….

Also, I don't really buy this 'we're a team now' concept. We were very mediocre last year and the team is still completely imbalanced. We've got no pace aside from Traore & Phillips, who might not hack the Premiership, and no creativity.

Pointless selling him without an adequate replacement (eg. Morrison), especially for 2-3M when we're looking at Championship players at prices of 5M+

Seems to look happy too, unless the physio is doing unmentionable things
I blew a lot on vodka and tonic, gambling and fags. Looking back, I think I overdid it on the tonic. - The one and only Stanley Bowles

Without doubt? How can you know that? For instance had we not had to accommodate him we could have had a more balanced side, maybe recruited a couple of team players in his place and been far more solid. Since he left us he also flopped at Foolham but did ok in a poorer league in Italy.

Logically paragraph two spot on. However that's always been the case.

Agree we were mediocre last year but looking at the mess that emerged from we showed promise and what I was really getting at was that by the latter part of the season (not just last game by the way!) we seemed to have a united dressing room and mutual respect between most of the players. I'm far from an 'Arry fan but that was a considerable achievement. Also with a few additions we will in my view be far better equipped than last time around. We simply don't need to build a team around one player and to do so could be harmful both to our shape and the dressing room.

I would like to be proved wrong with Adel as if he worked hard and fitted in with the team and whatever style of play could be a decent asset but we have been waiting three years for that so far!
