i really dont know Nick. I hope to god TF veto's this and other old carthorse signings. we have plenty of experience at the back with the likes of hill and dunney. even ned and simpson has played plenty of matches in the premier league. there are no valid reasons for signing ferdinand whatsoever.

what we need and have been crying out for over the past 3 seasons are mobile center backs.

Agree with you there mate every time ive seen Ned he looks absolutely awesome and very very rarely does a thing wrong. But it would be a bit of peace of mind to heave someone to help out with Hill and Dunne who IMO has rightly so earned there place in the squad for next season. But the prem is a faster, more physical game and I can just see 1 of them just being a game away from an injury. I personally would like to see a couple of decent young hungry strikers.

But with the press being the press any player who is reaching the end of their career will always be linked with us. And with us now being well known as a club with a bit of money in it, we'll always have silly money mentioned know matter how true OR untrue it is.
      SIR LESLIE FERDINAND!!

Hill stated two years back that he knows himself he's not up to PL level. Rio is so far above those two, miles and miles. Even with one bleeding knee.

Of course, everyone would prefer a 25 year old quality defender with top flight experience from a European league of a similar age defender from the Championship top 6. Either way, they don't come cheap when fees and wages are accounted for, you're still taking a massive gamble. Redknapp rarely does gambles (Di Canio the only one I can think of in 32 years)

Shocking player. Relegated with Birmingham, been poor at Blackburn. Would prefer Roger "relegation" Johnson if you're going down that road.

              agree with this

as stated in my previous post, other players, like Nedum, would learn a lot from Rio and he's still walk into at least half the teams in the pl

not quite sue why so many of our fans are critical of Rio, he's had a more successful career than any player in the history of Rangers and yet he's not good enough for us!!
              how strange

Sometimes its not just quality that gets you through, its having the heart and passion for the club you play for, something that Hill has plenty of. For example how do you reckon Giggs would have done had he joined Blackpool back when they got promoted back in 2010? A team that just got promoted and a team that he has know connection with what so ever....

But going on the quality theme IMO its actually hard to say, I'd like to be asked who is the better player- Hill, Dunne or Rio at tge end of the season because right now I honestly don't know.

I like Rio, top class player in his day and seems like a decent chap as well.

On a reasonable wage and pay per play bonuses, I'd definately give him a yr contract with a yr option on top.... Would do a stellar job alongside Nedum imo.

by the way, many people are going on about £80k a week

some of the foreign mercenaries and dead wood that we're getting rid of, come to a lot more than this, don't they?

they dont mate. if this deal goes through then that would make ferdinand the highest payed player in qpr history.

                        shocking if you ask me.

                          That sounds a reasonable choice.

And surely we should be spending that money on the future ie young hungry players NOT throwing it away on ageing players looking for a final pay cheque.

If we're to buy a CB to replace Hill/Dunne why on earth would we want to bring in Rio someone who we would have to replace very soon. Makes no sense!!

agree it makes no sense (long term)

short term, he may help us stay up and we can build from there

surely other players could learn from him and improve
