it will cost us a lot more than £4 million (£80k a week) if we go down again
I also think his knowledge will be invaluable to other players, that's worth something imo

I wasn't going to post here anymore.... well... couldn't resist!
In my opinion I really hope we don't sign him, people have to accept that he is "burnt out" and too slow now to keep up with the Premiership, remember Park?
No, I think a 2 year deal on £80k per week is far too much, if he is that good then why doesn't Arsenal go for him? or Spurs or indeed Everton? I hope we don't make the same mistakes as signing players who have big reputations that are simply past it, he isn't that good and just looking for one last pay day.
QPR really should adapt a new transfer policy and start investing in some younger players that would cost a lot less and be more effective, we have a possibility of being relegated next season and we don't want to be stuck with Ferdinand like Cesar.

IMO the most important position in a team is the back 4 and with Hill and Dunne at the age they're at and with injuries always a concern its only a matter of time until they hang there boots up. So we need to prepare for that with younger players, not player's who are in the same boat. Its all about having a settled defence, player's who know each other NOT player's coming and goingSIR LESLIE FERDINAND!!

I know of at least two, possibly three, that were higher.
Also, as I understand, much of that purported £80k isn't basic wage. Appearance based.Meet me by the railway tracks

"Redknapp ramps up defender bid....QPR have firmed up their interest in Rio Ferdinand with a one-year contract offer......The experienced centre-back is also target for Aston Villa, as well as clubs in Turkey and the USA, according to the Daily Mail.....However, Rangers are prepared to hand Ferdinand a bumper deal to try to lure him to Loftus Road.....The 35-year-old worked with Harry Redknapp at the beginning of his career with West Ham and the pair could be reunited in west London."

We're likely to employ four CBs as part of our 25-man squad. We've got Ned Hill and Dunne so far, with the latter two in the twighlight of their careers. Dunne as we know struggled towards the end of the season.
Do we really want to add a 35 year old to the squad whose injury record has been well publicised? The risk of him breaking down is too high.
We've already got two veterans at CB. I'd rather we signed a younger player to play there.Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

I will be pissed off if we sign after all this 'we've learnt our lesson' stuff. NO we haven't if we are offering a near on 36 yr old a contract at 80k a week! Not only is it an obscene amount of money for a club our size but i feel it will put other players noses out of joint.
