He used to be but his pace has gone. Fergie said he had to change his game because of it, and he sometimes gets caught out because of it.

He's lost his pace which used to get him out of trouble. Fergie said because of this he had to drastically alter his game.

Do I want the club paying some old has-been with a bad back 50k a week? No I don't. I don't care how good he might have been in the past. Those days are well and truly gone.
So if he has altered his game rich then can he still not perform?...

Pace used to get him out of trouble.....? I actually think as a defender he read the game better than most so didn't need to rely on pace anyway. The fact he read the game so well meant he rarely had to make lunging tackles like Terry and others of that type. Rio is more like a Baresi cb.

Either way, he may have lost some of his pace, but would still be yards quicker than Hill and Dunne on foot an in the head.

I don't believe it. Surely we would never pay 80k to a 35 yr old after what happened last time we was in the prem?

Bring back Anton and have him playing as well, why not give Anton the same wage

Well some of it will be mine which I do care about as struggling to afford season ticket renewal.

don't think players will get paid less if you don't renew.....

Yeah that's the right attitude, let's just pay them whatever. Maybe your loaded & probably have a platinum/c club season tkt but we're not all as well off as you seem to be. Out of interest where is your season ticket as I can only afford bronze?

I also don't think we should be paying high wages for someone who's played for a big club, an ex-international, with a bad back, who's in their mid-thirties. I don't think the motivation will be there.

I'm sure there's plenty of younger CBs around who can be part of the club for a long time to come.

36 in November. Lampard is 36 this month, yet some people want us to sign both. I don't want either of them. Their best days are well behind them. We need to keep one eye on the future instead of signing has-beens. We've done this too often.

He's too young for us. I heard Harry has just returned from a scouting mission in Normandy.
