It's easy to fill a 40k stadium if it's priced right. Please read the post first

I would guess that most London clubs attract a certain amount of the tourist brigade, and also sell hospitality packages, and this would certainly apply to us being based in London at a new stadium. 10% of the new stadium's capacity could be given over for this. This brings us up to 34k.

This leaves just 6k for the expansion of the fan base, which would almost
certainly happen playing in the prem in a new stadium. If we become an established prem club playing good football, it would introduce a new generation of supporter to the club. Remember, it isn't just about the here and now, it's about the next 50 years and beyond.

    So then, 26k Rangers, 10k away fans, 4k tourists/hospitality.

A risk yes, but if as you say we have up to 20k fans, adding in away supporters takes us well over the halfway mark already.
So even according to your creative accounting we MAY get somewhere near to a sellout by being overrun with Old school West Ham or Chelsea fans on a Nutty boys outing ,
and a few plane fulls from Asia for the Man United game so for the other 15 or 16 games we're back to playing in a ghost town stadium ..........
"Steve, do you think 25k is a good option when there are indications that within four years, new stadiums on average have increased attendances of 60%?
For us that would mean around 29k."

        28-30k max at a push.
Well W12 reckoned on up to 20k Rangers, let's say 6k away and 4k for tourists/corporate. That's 30k straight away without leaving any scope or expansion of the fan base . This is not just a here and now plan, it's for the next half a century and beyond.

Anyway, despite what the doom and gloom merchants think, we're getting a new stadium rumoured to be around the 40k mark whether you like it or not. Get your heads around it and either accept it or do something to stop it instead of whining.

I'm amazed that some people on here think they know more about running successful businesses than the people who own our club.

If/when we move to this supposed super stadium, we will be there for the next 100 years. Whether its 30k or 40k, we must leave room for future expansion.

In my view if Fulham can pull 24k from crowds of 3k I see no reason why we cannot pull between 20k to 23k (home fans on a regular basis) as long as the product being served up is correct and its priced correctly.

I think its fair to say in modern day football top flight sides will take anything between 2k and 4k away from home so if we opt for the bigger figures of both I think gates of between 25k to 26k is not unrealistic. Leaves head room of 4k for the big games when more come out so for me a 30k stadium is sensible if were solely looking at our own needs.

Obviously stadium is multi purpose hence the suggestion of 40k which I am not against if it is built sensibly so unused areas can be shut off out of sight so the ground don't look empty. I suggested before shutters that perhaps come down to exclude parts of the ground which could also be used for advertising.

One thing which I do struggle to get my head round is a 40k stadium for concerts but usually for concerts the bulk of fans are standing on the pitch so in situations were ground is being used for concerts surely your looking at a capacity in excess of 40k or am I being silly????
