Outstandingly well written piece by Clive and totally agree with it.

In all fairness, there were hardly any players who performed well last season. But when you think of the team selections and players being played out of position to accomodate certain others, it shouldn't really have been a surprise. Most days were ruined for me the moment the line up was announced.

Does Mackie sale tally with QPR’s ‘right sort’ rhetoric?

The abiding memory of Jamie Mackie’s time at QPR is clear...

not premiership quality but still came up with assists and vital goals something we really lack.

Not too fussed he is gone more annoyed who it is to. Should never strengthen a rival.

End of the day Mackie is championship level and we are in the championship. he could've still offered us something as an impact sub or a starter for 3/4 games. I noticed last season he fell out of form when given a long run in the side.

I am a bit bothered as not sure who else we have who is going to repeatedly run into opposing defenders, fail to deliver s cross then give the crowd a thumbs up? I'm also concerned for the overweight, highly effeminate father/son combo who sit behind me with their "come on Jamie" cries.
Think he may do well at Forest as I heard they've attached mirrors to his boots and fitted him with a neck brace to help him look up.

only problem from the last few posts here is that mackie wanted to leave! keeping him here against his will would not help matters.

the board did not want to sell, he put in a transfer request. so them arguments from clive and co are null and void.

Think of the reasons why he had to hand in a transfer request (and why it so shamelfully broadcast by the club) then you'll see why his arguments are anything but null and void.

Who at the club do we currently have that's better wide right than him?

It seems pretty clear that he was forced out. The transfer request came at the last moment, after fees and clubs had already been discussed, as an apparent afterthought, with the deal already done.

                      It certainly looks as though:
                      1. It was made clear to Jamie that he was not wanted (and who would want to stay under those conditions anyway).
                      2. The club asked him to put in a transfer request so that they could save some face, and he complied.

I don't think he was forced out at all he clearly says in his interview he got wind Forest had enquired and it was to good an opportunity to turn down. To me it seems he thought he should be guaranteed a starting place (Which he should not) and when he worked out that was not going to be the case he got off.

I would also hazard a guess that the chance of a signing on fee also played a part in him leaving. Was the rumour not that players that went up and got a pay rise also had a wage reduction for relegation (not like the new signings)????? Might give 100% on the pitch but don't mean he wants to spend his life at QPR

Cant see a player handing in a request because the club asked them too when they know it will cost them there contract being paid up.

Not sure why people cant just accept that perhaps a player fancies a move/change after all he has been confronted by fans on many occasions most recently on the pitch in a pre season at Peterborough

Ah well, the Scotchman has gone. Time for us to move on.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Your post intimates that should a player be sold, the club have to pay up his contract provided that he did not ask to be transferred.

Whilst I get the general drift of what you mean, that can't be right surely, can it?

Read in paper and saw on Sky Sports News that most players have a clause in contract where if they are sold without asking to leave they have proportion of there contract paid up. If they ask to leave and put in transfer request they forgo any money owed to them hence why Barton has made it clear he wants out but stopped short of putting in a transfer request guessing Rooney is playing a similar game
