fancy forest will do well this season , it was never mackies fault he that he had limitations as a footballer . his effort made him a fans favourite . i won't lose any sleep tonite with him gone but wish him luck in his career as long as he doesn't score against us

I am inclined to agree with you Dave. I actually think the main problem Mackie had was that he is not a winger. If you are going to play him there it has to be high and pretty much upfront. He doesn’t seem to get the credit some of his goals deserve. I actually think our first season in the prem JM performed quite well.

I don’t think people appreciate how hard it is when a ball is played out to him and he gets no support and is expected to beat his man 8/10 times. It just doesn’t happen. I’m sure if you looked at most wingers, they would only beat their man less than half the times they tried.

I’m not trying to say mackie is a class player, but he certainly is used as a bit of a scapegoat and a player that would have added something to our championship squad.

Brilliant read and sums up perfectly the way I feel things are going at the club at the moment.

The fact that so many people on this poll have said they're not bothered with Mackie leaving shows the state our fanbase is in IMO. Was Gareth Ainsworth the most technically gifted player in the world?! No, but he gave his all week in week out and it worked. Same with Mackie. Clubs like us need players like him. Always have and always will.

The fact that so many are happy to disregard Mackie and simply move on and sign somebody else is a poor reflection on how much we've lost sight of who we are. Players like Mackie used to thrive at QPR. Now people just rip them to pieces after a poor run of form and sit there obsessing over bids for a million different players. Then it's all toys out of the pram when they choose to move to someone else. It's actually quite embaressing to see what we've become since the money came in.

Still at least all those that aren't bothered by Mackie leaving will be more than happy to see players like SWP,Traore, Zamora etc milk the club for wages whilst putting in half ar5ed **** poor performances.

DouDou, I agree with you and Clive W. I think it's very telling that this poll is virtually a 50/50 split over it. I don't think even Adel divides the fanbase as much. Whilst I agree with Clive's points about the new direction the club are trying to take ultimately the final decision over Mackie would have had to be down to Redknapp. If he really wanted to keep him he would have given him more assurances that he was very much part of his team plans for the upcoming season, which clearly wasn't the case.

In terms of mentality it was clear he felt Mackie WAS 'the right kind of player'. He's stressed that before. But it seems clear that he just didnt rate him enough as a player. Personally I'm in agreement with you that he would definitely have been a valuable asset at this level.
