WATRB Exclusive
Interview with lifelong Rangers fan, the Home Secretary.
By The Godfather

I contacted the Home Secretary, Rt. Hon. Alan Johnson, who is a lifelong Queens Park Rangers supporter. Mr Johnson kindly agreed to take some time out of his busy schedule to briefly answer some QPR-related questions for WATRB.

1. First of all, how did you come to be a Queens Park Rangers supporter?

I was born and raised in Notting Hill – QPR territory!

2. Have you ever been a season-ticket holder? If so, where did you sit?

No, but I have sat in the South Africa Road Stand since it was built.

3. What have been the highlights of your time as a QPR supporter?

First, the 1966-67 season – 3rd Division Champions and League Cup winners! Then, promotion to the top tier for the first time and almost winning the league in 1975-76.

4. Who is your all-time favourite player?

Rodney Marsh.

5. What was the last match you attended? Which QPR player stood out?

I attended the Crystal Palace game. Taraabt stood out – an inheritor of the Marsh, Bowles, Currie mantel.

6. What do you think of the way the club has evolved under the new owners? Do you think the current team can achieve promotion this season?

There have been too many changes of manager for my liking and the cost of a ticket is too high, but I think we can win promotion this season.

7. Do you have a message for Queens Park Rangers supporters?

We’re on our way back!

With many thanks to Mr Johnson for sparing the time to contribute to We Are The Rangers Boys.
