Defoe has 12, Rooney has 11 and Bent and Saha are level with Torres in 10. So can I see the Spaniard topping this chart come the end of the season? In my opinion no I cant, there is no doubt that Torres is a great striker but I cant look much further than Drogba for top scorer – even when he missed games to go the African Cup of Nations.

Defoe has seen five of his 12 come in one, so he is not consistent enough, while Bent would need to get a good supply at Sunderland to continue his record so far.

Who does others think will be the top scorer in the Premier League? Am I being too quick to dismiss Torres as a possibility?
