Today’s bets:
3.45 - Doncaster - Moorhouse Lad - 2 pts win. Available at 9/2 (Coral)
Given he took in the same two races prior to running a close third in this race last season it is likely that Moorhouse Lad will play a prominent role again. His target is probably the l'Abbaye in which he was runner up last year. He has improved from race to race this season and his run in the Group One Nunthorpe at York last time out was encouraging and produced a level of performance similar to that of last season's renewal. He is equally at home on fast or slow ground, although most of his racing has been done on the former. He has a decent draw in stall eight and he could be a difficult horse to peg back if he ever hits the front on a track which suits his forcing tactics.
4.20 - Doncaster:
Agento Parmagiano - 1 pt e/w. Available at 8/1(General) 3rd 8/1 ;D
Jet Deau - 1 pt e/w. Available at 12/1 (General) N/R
Akhenater is tempting after running well for us at Chester last time out but he is seen to best effect when he gets a decent gallop, and he is far from guaranteed to get that in this race. Argento Parmagiano is not the easiest horse to get home in front but he does boast some decent form to his name. The pick of his turf efforts probably came over today's trip at Epsom in June where he was 6/15, beaten three lengths, by Cloudy Start and a reproduction of that would see him get competitive in this company. He runs from a three pound lower mark today and his effort on the A/W at Kempton last time out suggests he is still very much in form. Jet Deau has run to a similar level on both his starts in this country after showing a fair level of form in his native France last season. He has been seen doing his best work late on over distances from 5-8 furlongs so far and will need to be ridden positively if this becomes a messy race. However we may not have seen the best of him yet and, although a mark of 99 looks on the stiff side, his handler is adept at improving horses he inherits from other stables. They send just the one on the long trek north today and his jockey travels for his sole mount before returning to Kempton this evening. Jet Deau is entered in a Goodwood handicap on Saturday and it may be worth charting his progress with that race in mind.
5.25 - Doncaster - Incomparable - 1 pt e/w. Available at 12/1 (General) 1st 6/1 opened at 10's :boss:
