Another great day on Friday to top off a tremendous month one again, with for July ending at +122.5 points. Johannes was our big winner on the day (advised at 18/1) and Webbow also ran on late to snatch the place money in the following race. Many thanks to all for the kind words regarding the service and also the condolences, they are much appreciated. Let’s hope for more of the same as we head into August.
Today’s bets:
3.55 - Newbury:
The Jobber - 2 pts win. Available at 7/1 (General)
Ebraam - 1 pt e/w. Available at 9/1 (General) 3rd 12/1 ;D
There will be no hanging about in this race and the plethora of early pace could set it up for a closer, and the two that make most appeal are the Jobber and Ebraam. The Jobber has to shoulder top weight but he has been running well in better races than this recently and he drops back to the grade in which he recorded his last victory in June. He handles a bit of cut in the ground and travels well when the pace is strong. A winner of this race on two occasions in the past he in the kind of form to make it number three. Ebraam is better on the A/W but he has some form on turf from higher marks to be considered. He is usually seen in a higher grade over further but his last run over this trip at Epsom saw him run well from a six pound higher mark. he is versatile regarding ground conditions and granted luck in running, something he doesn't always get, he looks primed for a big run. A close third over today's trip at Newmarket from a ten pound higher mark this time last season makes him dangerously well weighted if he can repeat it.
4.05 - Chester - Opus Maximus - 2 pts win. Available at 13/2 (Sportingbet and Coral)
Plenty present who like to force the issue so a generous gallop looks on the cards. That will suit Opus Maximus who travels well and steps back up in trip after finding things happening too quickly over six furlongs in his last two races. He has taken on some stiff opposition this season and he may find this slightly easier. He has proven he can get competitive from around this mark and the stable are in good form. He has a touch of class in the context of this race and arguably his best performance this season came over this C/D. He has a decent draw to operate from if his jockey is alert to the early pacers drawn out wider who will be looking to cross to the rail.
5.00 - Newbury - Royal Superlative - 1 pt e/w. Available at 8/1 (General)
5.10 - Chester - Bessie Lou - 1 pt e/w. Available at 9/1 (General)
Hypnotic Glaze looked an improved performer last time out but he is still an eight raced maiden and, on breeding, is not guaranteed to be suited by today's longer trip. Bessie Lou has to be forgiven a poor run at Doncaster last time out but she is bred to be decent and to get every yard of today's trip. She had shown progressive form in her first three maiden races, acts on an easy surface and has been allocated a reasonable looking mark for this handicap debut. Drawn in stall one, she has the early pace to gain a good prominent pitch from the outset and it would not be a surprise to see her made plenty of use of. The stable have been struggling for winners recently with only one win from their last 53 entries. However the good news is that winner came at Hamilton last night.
