Another profitable day yesterday, thanks to the win of Aye Aye Digby. It could have been much better as William Blake looked a likely winner after heading Fanjura at Ascot, but Frankie got Fanjura back up just in time, and we had to settle for the place money.

3.45 - York:

A devilishly difficult sprint handicap but the early pace seems to be drawn centre to low so that may be the place to be. Striking Spirit could be hard to peg back but, although the form of his last win has been franked this week by the runner up (over shorter), both his victories have come in a grade lower. He hasn't fared so well when stepped up to this class, albeit running respectably. Roker Park may be drawn a bit higher than ideal but he come into this race on the back of some very good form and he is suited by good ground or softer. He hasn't been over raced, looks to be still improving and looks capable of exceeding a mark of 95 at some point. Excusez Moi can be an all or nothing character and has been beaten by several of these lately. However, on his day, he is a smooth traveller and, the faster they go, the better it will suit him. He seems suited by the cheekpieces and is better than a 20/1 shot, even in this company.

4.35 - Newmarket:

A few open to improvement in this race but it may pay to chance Haljaferia and Perception at double figure prices. Haljaferia looked unlucky at Newbury in his penultimate outing and probably found both the class and trip beyond him last time out. He disappointed in soft ground at York in May but he was reported to have been too free on that occasion. There is some encouragement from his breeding that he can handle G/S ground. He is still relatively unexposed and the way he finished at Newbury once in the clear suggests there are races in him from his current mark. Perception finished just behind him at Newbury and, being only her second race and fifth in all, she could be open to further improvement. She has been dropped three pounds for that effort and does have a decent Maiden effort to her name in G/S ground last season. Stable hitting form and have a reasonable strike rate at this track

5.25 - York - Summer Dancer - 1 pt e/w. Available at 10/1 (Stan James and Coral)

Became frustrating for David Elsworth but has been rejuvenated by his current yard this season. Easily won a couple of lower grade handicaps last month but looked unlucky when going for the hat-trick in this class at Catterick last time out. A decent traveller, he looks on good terms with himself at present and the likely strong pace of this race will suit him. Still well handicapped on some of his old form and handles a bit of cut in the ground.

3.50 - Ascot:
