Northern Flyer found just one too good yesterday going down by just a head, but the day did end in a slight profit thanks to the comfortable win of Misheer at Newmarket.

Today’s bets:

2.00 - Newmarket - Orpen Grey - 3 pts win. Available at 15/4 (Sportingbet) 2nd @7/2

Given the rate some progress it's not easy to be confident when selecting Juveniles. However Orpen Grey created a huge impression in winning his last two races and he represents the stable who took this race last season with Classic Blade. Orpen Grey has taken the same route as his stable mate in winning the same Salisbury Maiden prior to coming here. The level of performance in winning that race was arguably greater by Orpen Grey and it was eye-catching that he seemed to get stronger the further he went. He is bred to be a winning Juvenile and he could complete the hat-trick by taking this step up in class in his stride.

2.35 - Newmarket:
Firebet - 2 pts win. Available at 7/1 (General) 1st 7/1

Clerk's Choice - 1 pt e/w. Available at 14/1 (General)

The unexposed Class Is Class is highly respected and Aqwaal could make his presence felt back in handicap company. However two that could find further improvement are Firebet and Clerk's choice. Firebet can operate on both the slow and fast side of good and he step sup to ten furlongs for the first time. The way he has been finishing his races over a mile suggests it will suit and he is a horse who responds generously to urging from the saddle. He has gone up a total of 12 pounds for his last two victories but he could be progressing faster than that. Clerk's Choice takes a step up in class but the manner of his victory over nine furlongs at Sandown last time out was one of a horse who could now embark on a steep upward curve. The form was franked by the runner up yesterday and a six pound rise in the weights looks very reasonable. He also handles ground on the slow and fast side of good. The yard have been finding winners hard to come by this season but they've had a few run well recently.

3.10 - Newmarket - All The Aces - 2 pts win. Available at 5/1 (General)

Duncan and Campanologist probably have the best form on offer but, if there is enough ease in the ground, All The Aces looks capable of producing a performance that could take him close. Injury has restricted him to eight races but his two performances this season suggest we may not have seen the best of him yet. He has two lengths to make up with Campanologist on their Ascot running on firm ground last season but he looks capable of doing so on under these slower conditions. He represents a yard who have struck a rich vein of form in recent weeks. All The Aces stays this trip well and looks a fair price at around 5/1.

4.55 - Newmarket:
Indian Trail - 2 pts win. Available at 9/2 (Sportingbet and Ladbrokes)
The Jobber - 1 pt win. Available at 10/1 (General) 2nd 10/1 :very_sad:

5.05 - Folkestone - Lunar River - 2 pts win. Available at 4/1 (General) 4th :bad_egg:
