Only Luscivious gave us a return yesterday, and the day ended in a loss.

Today’s bets:

Newmarket 3.25
Although the form of the yard is a slight concern they tend to do well with the horses they send to headquarters and Able Master arguably produced a career best performance in defeat last time out. He got within just over a length of a higher rated rival in a Conditions race, giving him four pounds, and had an opponent rated the same as him two lengths back in third, giving him seven pounds. Able Master had some useful Juvenile form last season and his last effort built on his reappearance. a winner on fast ground the selection looks capable of further improvement back in handicap company. This is a tough race but his jockey's five pound claim could prove useful and he has shown improved form in the saddle so far this season.
Selection – ABLE MASTER. 1 point E/W @ 12/1 (General)

Catterick 3.35
Fastha likes a turning track and both his efforts this season on turf give him a very good chance in a race which amounts to a drop in grade for him. The drop back to seven furlongs will do his chances no harm and he could make his first visit to track a winning one from a favourable draw. He is still five pounds above his last winning mark but he has produced enough decent performances in very competitive races since to think that it is not beyond him. Lady Rangali has obviously had her problems because she was only seen twice last season. She showed enough in those two outings however to be considered here. he had some useful Juvenile form and if she resumes on an upward curve she could get very competitive. Fitness has to be taken on trust but she returned after a similar break last season to run well and the yard, who have been amongst the winners recently, have a reasonable record at this track.
Selection – FASTHA. 3 point win @ 4/1 (General)
Selection – LADY RANGALI. 1 point win @ 10/1 (Stan James)

Haydock 3.40
Those at the head of the market are open to any manner of improvement but the one that appeals the most is set The Trend. He has only raced on the polytrack so far but he looked to have more in hand than the winning margin suggests when winning last time out and gave the impression he is open to significant progression. Both sides of his family have produced, and/or are related to, horses that have handled testing ground so the omens are encouraging on that score. Powerful, in form, stable have a 31% strike rate returning a l.s.p of £59 when teaming up with today's jockey this season.
Selection – SET THE TREND. 1.5 points E/W @ 8/1 (Ladbrokes and William Hill)

Haydock 4.50
Makes his seasonal reappearance in a difficult race but it's encouraging connections have elected to run him here (holds an entry into an easier race at Redcar on Monday). He has plenty of stamina in his breeding so the marked step up in trip today should suit a horse who has proven he handles heavy ground. His Dam is related to several classy performers and it would be a surprise if Distant Memories didn't turn out much better than a 79 rated handicapper. Represents an inform yard and, receiving weight from the field, Distant Memories could bustle up those from the bigger stables if he is fit and ready.
Selection – DISTANT MEMORIES. 1 point E/W @ 16/1 (General)

Selection – ETON RIFLES. 2 point win @ 7/2 (General)
