Another sensational day to end the month, with Mango Catcher (advised at 11/2), Square Sphere (advised at 12/1) and Hobson (advised at 12/1) all winning. Not only that, but Chilbury Hill (advised e/w at 22/1) was also 2nd, adding up to a +32.5 point profit on the day, and a tremendous +103.5 point profit overall for April.

Today’s bets:

Musselburgh 2.20
Both his efforts since returning to the turf suggest Pedregal is worth stepping back up in trip or going over a stiffer five furlongs. He is still a maiden after nine races but there was much more encouragement last time out at Catterick. That wouldn't be the slowest sprint track in the country and, drawn on the wide outside on fast ground, it was noticeable that he wasn't as badly outpaced initially as he was at Redcar the time before. He still seemed to lose his place mid race before running on to good effect late on. He re-opposes the two that finished in front of him that day and, at these weights and with Paul Hannagan in the saddle, he could reverse the form. He is clearly nothing special at this stage but he does give the impression that he is a slow learner and it's not beyond the realms of possibility that he could progress at a modest level at some point, given the right conditions. Represents a stable in good form.
Selection – PEDREGAL. 2 point win @ 4/1 (General)

Musselburgh 3.30
Wind Shuffle is a tough cookie at this kind of level and his reappearance over a mile at this track last month suggests he could be in for another good season. His profile is one of a horse who thrives, and improves, with racing. He gets on very well with today's five pound claimer, stays this trip well, has a liking for this course and is likely to prove better than his current mark at some time during this campaign. Of those that like to lead/race prominently he is likely to stay better than Golden Penny, handle the ground better than Casino Night and would appear to have little to fear from Cigalas, who looks to have completely lost the plot. Wind Shuffle represents a yard who are dropping hints that they are about to strike form.
Selection – WIND SHUFFLE. 2 point win @ 7/1 (General)

Southwell 4.15
Paddy Reilly is likely to attract most of the market but, at a much bigger price, Gayanula shouldn't be too readily dismissed. She was disappointing when last seen but her pre-race antics suggested, for whatever reason, that she wasn't happy and she duly travelled like a horse not on good terms with herself. Prior to that she had returned a string of consistent efforts at this track at or around today's trip. She wouldn't be weighted out of this judged on those efforts and both her stable and her seven pound claimer have profitable records at this track in recent seasons. She may have been freshened up by her short break and she looks much better value than the short priced favourite.
Selection – GAYANULA. 1 point E/W @ 12/1 (General)

Musselburgh 5.15
Selection – JEWELLED DAGGER. 2 point win @ 15/2 (Skybet)

Bangor 7.25
He may be reaching bus pass status but Bronzesmith hasn't been over raced and there were definite signs that there is plenty of life left in him last time out. In his first race for eight months he was eventually beaten 21 lengths but he travelled very well into the latter stages of the race and he has been dropped a very generous seven pounds by the assessor subsequently. That leaves him well handicapped on his old form and he seems to retain much of that ability. He probably needs conditions to continue drying out but, if he gets through the ground, he could give the younger guns something to think about. The booking of a top three pound claimer is an encouraging sign for the yard's only horse at the races today.
Selection – BRONZESMITH. 1 point E/W @ 14/1 (General)

Bangor 8.25
Selection – GOOD SPIRIT. 1 point E/W @ 9/1 (General)
